We have been here before & this time came back with friends. We arrived in time for happy hour specials. Select tapas at half price. The food is always good. We had some of those at half price & some not on special. All were good. We decided on a pitcher of sangria that we all shared. Service was excellent.... More

We enjoyed the service and food at this restaurant. There were four of us and everyone had something different. Everything we tried was very good.

La Bodega is a classic Spanish Tapa bistro (Small plates) that you will not want to pass up. The food is incredible and authentic. I have been to Spain many times and they get it here. They also add a flare and variety to the menu in addition to traditional Tapas that you will no doubt love. Try Jamon Iberico,... More

Trendy restaurant, popular with young crowd. Excellent variety in the menu. Not quiet, but great for family, friends, or a romantic dinner. Smaller portions, but ideal for sharing. Delicious and flavorful. Usually crowded. Reservations needed, especially at popular times and for larger groups.

My wife insisted we go here based on recommendations she heard. I am not a big tapas lover, but I have to say the good here was very good. My favorite dish was some kind of spicy potatoes. The meatball dishes and chicken / chorizo skewers were also very enjoyable. The only thing we didn't like was the dates. Service... More

While in Kansas City for work I stopped by La Bodega's for dinner on a Friday night. The place was already packed at 6pm, but since I was solo scored a table pretty quick. My server, Ann, was very delightful and took care of me the entire visit. They have a very wide selection of beers, spirits, cocktails, and wines... More

Decided to go here during restaurant week and I am glad I did. This was a great place to get topas. Spanish inspired dishes. The Pintxos de Higo was absolutely delicious. The goat cheese was the creamiest I have ever tasted. I also had the Pincho de Pollo y Chorizo. The chorizo was cooked perfectly and the chicken wasn't over... More

I have had dinner, and lunch there recently. I can't speak to all menu items, but their Tapas are excellent.

Entering the Leawood La Bodega restaurant, the cold north arctic blast immediately dissolved as the greeter smiled and escorted me to my awaiting family for Tapas, wine, and good company. Following completion of five different Tapas we chose the dessert feature. After another 20 minutes of family conversation, Jeff Thomas chef for the evening, came to our table inquiring about... We don't go here often but when we do we are always happy. They have a big variety of small plate options to choose from. The service is great. Friendly & efficient. It is a nice upscale place. The best part of the tapas menu is that you get to sample small plates of lots of things. The small plate... More

Tapas -- In the beginning. Tapas is a daily event in the life of the Spanish culture. Mainly a Northern Spain, Basque regional tradition, it has grown to signify a way of eating and socializing. It is said that tapas originated centuries ago. In Spanish, the word tapa or the verb tapar means "to cover." Tapas represents the Spanish custom of placing a piece of bread over the glass of wine. It is a custom that dates back past the 1500's. Traditionally, the exact food served is less important than the social occasion. It signifies leisure, camaraderie and good humor. In Spain, Tapas are almost always accompanied by wine. The wine is the medium that holds the conversation with friends and the food together. You make time to enjoy the moment in an unhurried way. The threefold purpose of snacking on tapas is to dull any hunger pangs that have built up since the previous intake of comestibles, to whet the appetite for the next, and to stimulate sociability, at which the Spanish excel.
