Love this place. It's a must go place in Ellsworth if you want lobster or great seafood. Customers start showing up about half an hour before they open, so get there early if you want a seat!

We found this place the first night we were in the area. They set the bar high! We shared a lobster and had fun learning how to crack the lobster for the meat. The lobster was good. The sides good as well. Blueberry pie to...go- well that was a treat later! Would highly recommend this restaurant.More

Our family dined here 3 times during our stay in the area. The quality of the service and food varied with each visit although the whole lobsters dinners were always a hit. I don't eat lobster and so found the other fish offerings to be...a bit hit or miss, especially the halibut. People do start lining up outside before 5:00 for dinner so if you're not in line by 5, you're going to wait at least an hour to be seated. We ate on the screened-in porch which was a great way to enjoy the view of the river and the mild weather we had. If you love lobster, this is definitely the best place to go in the area.More

Got to the restaurant an hour early, didn't notice the opening hours on the web...oops but glad we got there early, we were 2nd inline. They opened on time (5) and we were showed to our table. Great waitress, not pushy . Ordered the 1lb...3/4 lobster with the mussels and clams and the wife had Crab cakes. Best food and service during our whole vacation. 10/10 the waitress even taught me how to dig into the lobster, well we all have to learn somewhen. Colin & marMore

Best meal I have had since I got to Maine. Cook the lobsters in big pots right out side. Freshest seafood I have tasted in a long time. Came highly recommend by a dock master in town. Don't waist your time or money eating in...Bar Harbor, you will go broke and be so disappointed. We both split the appetizer of shrimp scallops wrapped in bacon. $8. The flavor was out of this world. Then we got both got poor man lobster with 2 sides..soooo good. $32.00. They threw in the dessert because they forgot our salads. I cannot say enough about this place, the food, the service is fantastic. They are hopping, doesn't open till 5:30 and there was a line around the building. We wated almost 1 hr. to get in and it was a Monday after Labor day. They do run out of smaller lobsters fast so get there early. Ask for Kerry..she was Fantastic.More

We got there at about 5:20pm and they had opened just 20 minutes earlier but it was already full and we had a 45 minute wait. The wait was pleasant as we had a beer out on the lawn near the river. We ordered either...the lobster dinner or some of us made it a full plate including steamers and mussels. The seafood was perfectly cooked and delicious. This was our first lobster in Maine and we were a bit surprised by the prices but we learned that the prices here are quite reasonable given that the food is perfect and it includes full table service in a great location.More

This place was always crowded. My first wait was a half hour and an elderly woman cut in front of me. I was not happy, but I kept my mouth shut. The staff were very friendly and worked well to get everyone seated quickly given...the long wait. I had scallops the first time I went and they were good. I got the green beans and salad with cranberry dressing. The food was delicious and service was excellent! The second time I went to Union River, I got there early so I didn't have to wait. I ordered the lazy lobster. It came with salad and a veggie too, I got the green beans again. The food was delicious again. I wished for more lobster with the meal, but it was a reasonable amount of hot buttered lobster meat. Overall, good value for the meal considering the times. (All lobster and crab meat was overpriced due to low supply and high demand during my visit to Maine). They have indoor, patio, and outdoor seating. Dogs were allowed indoors. Parking can be a challenge if you don't get there early!!More

We were in the Bar Harbor for a week, and decided on this restaurant for our first lobster. It was excellent, and exceeded all others. It’s by a small creek and you can sit outside on picnic tables and have a beer while you wait...for your table. The lobster pound is open, so the kids can get a good look at the critters and watch the (very efficient) guy cooking them. The staff inside is very friendly. The lobster was cooked perfectly and the shells filled to the brim with meat. The price is great too.More
