According to their Facebook page and anecdotal evidence, Cindy's, the home of the best fried clams I've ever tasted, has permanently closed. I only discovered it a few years ago, unfortunately, so I didn't get to eat there many times. But every visit was memorable, not just for the clams but also the friendly service, the simple setting, and lots... More

We wanted a simple, quick, delicious, authentic seafood stop and this was perfect. The staff are all wonderful and very friendly and the food is excellent. The lobster roll is a great size for the price and the taste is excellent. We also had the fish and chips basket (haddock) and that was delicious as well. Definitely stop by if... More

We have been to Freeport many times, but on our last foray, July 31 to August 2, we tried Cindy's, mainly due to other tripadvisor reviews. We were not disappointed. The lobster roll and clam roll were outstanding and portions large. Cindy's fries all its foods very delicately, even the delicious onion rings, and I am very sensitive to greasy... More

It was our first, and it won't be the last. Cindy's set the bar pretty high. THE PLACE - cute setting like a motor court with flowers, clean tables, lots of parking, easy to navigate menu and fun appearance. THE FOOD - we ordered 2 lobster rolls, and they were amazing. We asked for butter rather than mayo. They said... More

This was a basically a shack on the side of the freeway that serves up a first rate lobster roll. There's nothing fancy about this. The food is priced about where you would expect. Portions were plentiful. And the flavor was great - big, cold chunks of lobster lightly sauced on a perfectly toasted bun. We also had the scallops... More

Coming from Boston, $16 for a lobster roll is a pretty good deal, and it was huge - there were whole claws in mine! We had the whole belly clams too - delicious!

Having driven to our camp in Maine from NJ for over 50 years we have visited a lot of take out places. We will never stop anywhere else again! This place is GREAT! The lobster roll is made from just claw meat and it is over the top. The fried scallops and clams are not to be believed. The grand... More

It's a shack on the side of the highway, but they do have some of the best specimens of fried clams in southern Maine at least. Clams were large, sweet, and retained some juiciness -- in other words, crispy coating but yet the clams were not overcooked. Lobster rolls were very fresh and a relatively good bargain at $14.50 --... More

Skip the restaurants at Freeport. After shopping we drove south and saw Cindy's passing along Route 1 as we were looking for a place to eat where we could park our car and bring our dog down. Thank goodness we stopped and gave this place a try. The fried clams did not disappoint and neither did the lobster rolls. They... More

Cindy's, for years, has been a best kept secret amongst lobster rollers. The lobster meat is clean, plentiful, simply with mayo, and on a perfectly toasted hot dog roll. The way it should be. Sitting on the picnic tables with other locals and tourists is always fun. The fries and onion rings are also friend perfectly. A local treasure.

Thank Mary W
