The staff were very friendly and service was outstanding. Craft beer was excellent, and food was good.

I love Gritty's. Great beer, solid pub food, awesome outdoor play area for children. Four stars because it can be intensely crowded, not the cleanest (high chairs, for example), and the food is solid but not outstanding. For a bar you can take your kids...More

This is half pub half restaurant, not so much a brew pub, though their craft beers are good. It's got a decent atmosphere, the only negatives are the selection is very heavy on ales, and the servers aren't great at explaining what the cocktails are,...More

Stopped in late on a Sunday evening as it was very close to hotel for night. Our waitress was very pleasant and helpful. Meatloaf sandwich was outstanding. The house IPA was a bit holy but ok as well.

We were hoping for a brewery and some beer tastings but found more of a family style restaurant very crowded. We were able to get seats quickly due to the efficient staff - however, we were not told any information about the beer served, offered...More

Several of us ordered the lobster Mac and cheese. The macaroni was very good, but where was the lobster? There was very little lobster in this dish. The pieces of lobster that was in this dish would fit in a teaspoon or less. The McDuff...More

We have eaten at Gritty's in Auburn about three times and Freeport twice. The atmosphere is fun and lively. At the Freeport restaurant there are several different dining rooms and outdoor seating during the summer, each with a unique feel. Even when it is really...More

On our annual trip through Freeport so walked to Gritty's from 'downtown' for dinner, arriving early as we were on Atlantic time. After tasting a couple of craft beers we opted for the Stout and IPA. Then we had our meals, the Baked Haddock and...More

We had a great time at McDuff's. Service staff was great. When we were there they had the misfortune of the bar service counter and wash sinks caving in. They handled it perfectly with humor, seriousness, help, and quick recovery. We so appreciate the great...More

Gritty McDuff's, Maine's Original Brew Pub specializes in hand-crafted English style ales and traditional and creative pub fare, in a friendly and fun atmosphere. Both Gritty's fine ales and the pubs have won countless "best of" awards through our twenty-six years of operation. Our standard brews are session beers, Gritty's Pub-Style Pale Ale, McDuff's Best Bitter, Black Fly Stout, allowing one to have multiple beers within a reasonable time period without overwhelming the senses. Our seasonal and varietal ale offerings are more adventurous, some with a higher ABV, and some with higher IBU. We brew a beer for all craft brew palates. For the diner, we offer traditional pub fare alongside not so traditional specialty items. Our pub-style long tables with benches easily accommodate parties of all sizes and add to the camaraderie.
