Black Birch is one of our 3 absolute faves on the Seacoast so reliably imaginative is this chef and company. Yes, it's small. Yes, it's reasonably priced. And yes, it's not easy to find. But find it you must and you will quickly understand why...More

We arrived about 4:15 to score a table, and started with the appetizer menu, the only one available before 5:00. Good ale, duck poutine, and the deviled eggs, of which there were three different versions, with the exact arrangement changing seasonally. By 4:45 people were...More

It gets busy on the weekend so get there early. Food excellent and beer selection not extensive but worthy. Nice area of town with other good shopping options.

We've been to Black Birch a few times. Once for restaurant week, a couple times for dinner, and another time for their Edible Seacoast dinner. The food is consistent and the staff is friendly. On a whole though, it doesn't beat out some of the...More

Quite the surprise to find a restaurant in Southern Maine with such diversity. While the menu isn't expansive, they bring a nice mix of comfort food and regional dishes with creative touch. We especially enjoyed the scallops (Coquille St Jacques). Be aware that the dishes...More

Having heard of its popularity, we arrived at 5:00pm on a Friday thinking we would beat the crowd... we just barely got a table and there was a long line waiting to get in when we left about an hour later. The waitstaff couldn't have...More

Set in a one story retired brick post office, The Black Birch has an unassuming exterior. The interior is modern minimalist balanced by reclaimed wood and hand blown glass lighting. Outdoors is a hidden gem of a beer garden.
