They have an interesting menu which I liked. Food was really good and the ambiance is great. This was my first time, but I would definitely go back.

Stopped by on a fluke, early on a Saturday night after hearing rave reviews from friends. Normally, we go to Portsmouth and have drinks first, and dinner around 8, but this night we were hungry at 5pm. Greeted at the door by one of the...More
My wife and I have been taking visitors to the Black Birch for several years and everyone has always enjoyed the food, beer and wine. We typically get small plates that we share. It can get busy with occasional long waits so come early. Easily...More
I was told about this place from a friend and he could not have been more right about this place. We can not wait to return for dinner. The cocktails were excellent and we had the rillete appetizer and it was sensational. Returning for sure.
We make a point of dining at the Black Birch on every trip to Maine. Food is excellent and reasonably priced. Plan your visit though, this restaurant gets very busy and they do not take reservations. Lines to get in will start to form as...More
First timers but we had heard great things from many so expectations were high...and they were met with honors. To start, I would like to compliment the donuts served for dessert, absolutely to die for. Had scallops after a kale salad which was also excellent,...More
This restaurant was recommended by a local bartender and she was right on. Small but the food and vibe are fun. We did small plates and tried a few items on the menu and all were superb. Great draft beer list too!

It's not hard to get to, but hard to find as there's no sign hanging out front - just the name on a piece of wood inside the front window. Super cozy and fun on the inside. Menu is local and seasonal. We sat at...More
This was our 2nd visit since 2015, and the quality was still there and the food and staff fantastic. Everything we had tasted great, the deviled eggs and pate are exceptional. Owner/manager was so friendly. Excellent beer choices. Good value too!
