If you like ice cream, you will LOVE Hodgman's frozen custard. It is rich, creamy, and smooth. They have vanilla and chocolate every day (chocolate is our favorite flavor) and one specialty flavor each day such as red raspberry, orange pineapple, black raspberry, pumpkin, maple walnut, and other flavors I can't recall at the moment. I would have to say... More

A family destination all summer season long. In cones, only offer vanilla, chocolate, and their flavor of the day. Doesn't matter, still worth a visit. Incredible service: I've seen long, long lines and additional service windows magically open, lines shorten, and everyone gets taken care of quickly and efficiently. Always amazes me. Husband tries flavors of the day and loves... More

Old-school creamery that is a modern throwback to simpler times. You can either get a cone to enjoy in the yard shared by the food truck next door or take a pint to go. It's a great after dinner treat and would be a great place to bring a big group or family.

The difference between commercial ice cream and frozen custard - egg yolks in Hodgmans frozen custard make for a creamy consistent flavor. There are about 3/4 immediate and seasonal or weekly flavors to choose from, in cone or containers, so no need to stand in a long line contemplating your dessert choice! For us, there was maple walnut, vanilla, red... More

I'll admit up front that I'm probably a little biased since I grew up in Lewiston and visited Sabbathday Lake often as a child. I have such fond memories if stopping here for a treat as a child. I have traveled much across the US and haven't come across Frozen Custard any where near as good as Hodgmans. Now as... More

This is a great place for frozen custard. For years, it has offered the traditional chocolate and vanilla as well as a special frozen custard like pumpkin or orange-pineapple. It's only open during the warm months in Maine, so enjoy it while you can.

Excellent frozen custard, with one flavor featured daily. The featured flavors change, chocolate and vanilla are available all the time. The featured flavors run the gamut from mango, maple, peach, peanut butter, amaretto, cappucino, cinnamon and more. They can sell out in less than a day, so if you see something as you drive by that looks interesting, don't wait! I... More

Hodgman's has been a staple in New Gloucester since the 1940's. They serve frozen custard rather than ice cream. The difference is they use eggs to get an extremely rich treat. One thing that makes it unusual is they only serve 3 flavors! Vanilla, chocolate, and the flavor of the week. Why? Because their frozen custard machines are original. I... More
