The Standard is unbelievably--stunningly--good. Yes, there are some fancier-in-appearance French "art" bakeries around, but I no of no bakery anywhere that consistently turns out the broadest and finest array of breads, muffins, croissants, cookies, and other specialty items. The chocolate and almond croissants are to die for!

Loved my visit and loved the food! Stopped in twice for coffee and croissants...the almond croissant is beyond divine. Friendly service, easy parking in the front lot.

The sourdough bread is up there with the standard in Melbourne, Australia - and that is saying something!

We always look forward to going here when we visit Portland. This time we were disappointed; cranberry pecan bread had soft crust and I couldn't find any cranberries. The poppy seed rolls wetr greasy. The rasberry, buckwheat scone was fabulous!

My only complaint is that they only have the almond croissant on weekends. It is fantastic! best I have ever had in the US or Europe.Bread is great, and if they have pizza, get it!

Never had anything I didn't "love" from Standard Baking. Although I have to say the wait staff could be a little friendlier...they make it seem like they are doing you a favor by serving you. It's probably because they are slammed all day, every day?

Baguette was crusty and chewy, and molasses cookies were very flavorful. Good with a coffee. Very crowded, but it was Christmas Eve. Staff was very friendly and quick. Kept the line moving.

Stopped by for a quick minute to grab some bread for the hotel room at night. Grabbed the baguette and it was incredible. Crusty outside airy in the middle. Will definitely return on our visit to Portland

I have been here many, many times and have yet to eat anything not worthy of five stars. The marinated olive loaf is a must buy when they have it, and their French bread is perfect. Stop in and get something before heading out on a ferry through Casco Bay.
