Very Good--the beet salad and scallop appetizer Good--the pasta entree and the bread. Also, the service was satisfactory Could have been better--the prawns, which were overcooked to the point of toughness, the dessert, which was unmemorable.

I love this place. Always consistently wonderful, with both the regular menu items and the specials. A good place to share small plates. Wine selections are great as are the knowledgeable wait staff. A treat is to sit at the Kitchen Counter, where you can chat with the chefs as they prepare meals. Oh -- and 388 is open 7... More

There are a lot of selections in Portland and David's certainly deserves to be among the top choices. The menu is varied and should suit many tastes. The service is middling. I would return. Note the dessert offerings are scant.

We went with a couple friends last year for restaurant week and no one was impressed. Everything was mediocre, except the price. No one got sick or felt ill, but considering the price--very upsetting.

We love this place and brought a guest to show off our favorite neighborhood restaurant. The three of us went and sat at the bar where we prefer to eat. We shared absolutely delicious mussels, white wine and garlic with great bread for mopping it up. my wife had the filet mignon over garlic mashed and asparagus, and two of... More

This was our second trip here and my husband, a fisherman, was surprised by the low quality of the scallops. I had the home made pasta and it was pretty good. So many other great places in Portland to go.

A small, friendly neighborhood restaurant where the food is wonderful and the staff very attentive. The menu many not be as long as some other restaurants but the dishes are varied and well executed.Well worth exploring if you have not been here !

Wonderful small gourmet, high-end restaurant in a small neighborhood setting. Smallish portions but excellent quality. Slightly limited menu.

David's 388 has long been one of our favorite neighborhood spots. We're very lucky to have both them and Enios on the same stretch of road in South Portland. I recently dined at Davids with my wife and we enjoyed the fish cake, grilled romaine salad, pot stickers, duck breast and filet. All the dishes were expertly executed and the... More

Wonderful friendly service. We sat overlooking the chefs who had time to smile despite being constantly in motion. Food excellent as usual and wine reasonably priced.
