Pines of Rome is a Bethesda Classic. The food is plentiful and delicious. The pastas are filling and cooked just right. The White pizza is the best in the area. This is an inexpensive restaurant with great food and service.

Although this restaurant is not "spiffy and slick" it has good, "red tablecloth" Italian food. The white pizza is the BEST around. The red peppers appetizer is very good. We have enjoyed delicious grilled flounder, eggplant parm and sausage and peppers. Good basic, Old-school Ialian food.

The place is run down, it is obvious that they have not spent any money on maintenance for years. The waiters are not very nice. The spaghetti carbonara was subpar. Only good thing was the generous bread portions and tomato sauce.

Visited Pines of Rome in Bethesda for dinner. My veal marsala was tough and not particularly flavorable. My wife's veal francais was tasteless and came with no sauce. The marinara sauce on the pasta was watery. Bottom line, I can't recommend.

For the past 30 years, off and on I have visited the Pines of Rome. I was first introduced to this place in the 1980s by my brother who used to be a bike messenger in DC. We would come on the weekends and wait in the long lines. Today I was in town for business and happened on at... More

We were in Bethesda as tourists. We had pasta carbonara, and ravioli, with an antipasto salad The carbonara and the ravioli were both classic and delicious. The antipasto had iceberg lettuce, but there was also tuna, cheese, salami, mordatella, olives, radishes, and carrots, We had an Italian beer and the house red wine Not haute cuisine, but a very tasty... My husband and I just had dinner at Pines of Rome. We used to come here often with a neighbor but had not visited in a few years since the neighbor passed away. They still have simple but delicious food. The flounder was perfectly cooked, enough for 2 people and came with a large serving of spaghetti with tomato sauce.... More

This little restaurant is a bit hidden in Bethesda, but it is worth your time to find it. Don't be put off by the lack of fancy tables, chairs, table clothes and wall decorations. You come for the food! The food is excellent authentic Italian. Marinara is thin and flavorful. It is not the usual American sweet and thick stuff.... More
