Came here on a Tuesday night and got a little worried that it was not very busy. Appetizers were tasty and two were an adequate portion for 4 people. Entrees were excellent particularly the Halibut and the Brick chicken. Desert was surprising and just sweet enough without being too sweet.

We went there to eat their 17th anniversary dinner. The food was excellent with novel dishes such as a cheese stuffed pimento. We enjoyed the fish and. We have been going here for over 15 years but it dropped off of our radar. We will be back.

This is the type of place you wish was around the block from home so you could have a reliable go-to choice for a meal, whether it is just a main course, or a 3 course meal. I had fried oysters and their brick chicken, and both went way beyond the run of the mill - I particularly liked the... More

Had supper in mid-February on a busy Saturday night. We live out of town and had not been to Grapeseed in a couple of years, but have always had good experiences in the past. I was truly surprised to read the more recent reviews which depicted a restaurant going downhill. We had 3 very good meals. The cauliflower soup was... More

Sometimes we forget why we dine out, Grapeseed reminds us. His food is really good and his preparations show his talent. But it was the fact that here we were, the four of us, at a table with perfect, respectable service and we could talk without shouting. It was dining as it should be. Chef is very responsible in his... More

Four of us went to Grapeseed in Bethesda last evening, an upscale American restaurant with wine bar. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal! We requested a quiet table away from the bar so we could hear, and they were very helpful seating us. We were surprised that there were a lot of empty tables, because it was a Friday night at... The avocado toast with pulled pork appetizer was a big hit with me. Liked the different flavors pulled together. But their version of shrimps 'n grits missed the mark altogether. Thought it was too heavy on the tomato side; also a bit too soupy. Lenore, my server, however, was just a big hit. She was such a happy and enthusiastic... More

We hadn't been to Grapeseed in a while and this visit was a winner for all in our group. From the appetizers polenta, oysters, sorrel soup and grilled ceasar salad to the main courses, scallops, seabass, steak and chicken everyone was impressed. The ingredients were fresh and beautifully prepared and presented. Only one of us had wine that evening, but... More

We were at Grapeseed for dinner and another time for a wine tasting. For the tasting, the wine was of interest but the food items were lackluster, insufficient and in some cases quite salty. We have been getting email announcements of various dinners and haven't been tempted to return. Our last dinner was disappointing on all fronts and definitely not... More

Grapeseed American Bistro is a casual bistro that matches great food and wine together. With anywhere from 80 to 100 wines by the glass and approximately 325 bottle listed, we cater to the novice wine lover and to the experienced. We start with a bottle of wine and pick out the characteristics and nuances of the wine and then award winning Chef Jeffrey Heineman creates a menu item to highlight the flavors of the wine. So come in and relax, have a taste or a glass of wine and try something on our ever-changing menu.
