This is the second time I have eaten here, both times was during the Sultana Downrigging. Last year was a lot better and I take it they were having problems this year. The wait was long, and they seemed a bit short staffed. However, we made reservations early, and did not have as long a wait as other folks who... More

Steak Salad and Shrimp Salad, entree size, for lunch. Sounds easy, right? Big bowls, small salads, a few cranberries, a smaller amount of feta cheese, and mixed lettuce greens that were WELL passed their prime. No bread offered. This was at 2 in the afternoon on a Friday. The kitchen was hardly overwhelmed...as were we. The women's bathroom was clean... More

The food, atmosphere and staff were amazing. I can not wait to return again. My husband and I were getting married the following day and enjoyed our time in Chestertown. Great restaurant.

We were visiting Chestertown in hopes of finding a vacation house and were really looking forward to trying local restaurants. The hotel is quaint, the restaurant looks nice but the service was awful. We waited and waited and waited to be acknowledged after we were seated then were told that "there's a big party in the other room and we're... More

I have to admit, I am scratching my head over this review. While we have won awards, voted on by customers, for our gluten free options we do not sell ourselves as a gluten free restaurant. That being said, just as we go out of our way to cater to vegetarians, vegans, lactose intolerant guests or other allergies/issues, we also... More

Crab dip was just OK. The mushroom appetizer (thyme infused over polenta), which sounded so good was tiny and not memorable. My wife and I both had the rockfish with crab and it just wasn't very well executed. The service was good and we were able to find a decent wine at a good price. A shame since it's an... More

We recently had dinner at the kitchen. The wait staff was exceptionally pleasant and the chef owner came out to talk to several of the tables (although not ours) The food was very good. I had the crab balls which were extremely tasty (small portion but not expensive) and the rockfish which was prepared very well. My companion had the... More

Michael. We are going for "top of the world", but will take "better than good". Thanks for taking the time to review us. Sorry I did not get to talk with you, I try to talk to everyone I can but kitchen duty keeps calling. I am particularly happy to hear how on point my service staff was, that is... More

One weekend while I was exploring downtown Chestertown (taught at the college that summer), stopped at this restaurant for a late lunch. Service was okay as was the food. Also, there were flies all over the inside of the restaurant, which is gross when you are trying to each.

Sorry you found us so...average. We worked really hard on the decor and ambiance to set ourselves apart from the other restaurants. No, we don't have the water front view, but I would put our back patio against any location in the county. Since you did not mention any food, I cannot comment on what it was you had to... More

The Kitchen and the Imperial Hotel is a transplant of the same place and ownership that has moved to Chestertown, MD from Rock Hall, MD. We liked them in their previous location and the quality and service here is as good as ever. Reservations are suggested for dinner. They have a large room at the rear of the establishment which... Thank you so much for taking the time to review us. I love that you noticed how we take old stand by recipes and put our own twist on them. If you are not having fun, what is the point! I think my staff might agree about the crazy comment, but they sometimes use other words……. Steve More

Amazing, properly portioned, local fare with great vegetarian options. Fantastic wine list, deserts, and, most of all, truly professional wait staff.
