I have lived within 10 miles of Bassett's for the past 15 years. Every weekend we had lunch breakfast or lunch at Bassett's following a morning ride. The food has continuously gone down hill the past few years. Now I go infrequently. Three weeks ago, we ordered Steak Salads for lunch- the meat was so tough and rubbery - I... More

Found this place using Hertz GPS while in Maryland for business. Our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. The food was great and well prepared. My issue was the manager on duty, an obviously well-fed blonde, felt the need to chew out our waitress over a trivial matter of rubber gloves. The manager was very loud and everyone in the... More

We often go to Basset's for special reason for just to enjoy a great meal. It is family run with lots of local people and culture. No one should get too or through Poolsville with our stoping for a meal/

This is a real neighborhood gathering place. The bar is designed for friendly conversation, the decorations, for the season, but the wait staff is among the best I have ever encountered. I visited twice in the last week, once for brunch and once for lunch. At the lunch, I had eggs Benedict with a complimentary glass of champaign. At the... More

First disappointment was receiving rolls with margarine not real butter. Clam chowder had celery in it, but ok. The crab cake sandwich was small & I didn't care for the breading. They forgot my husband's side dish, and the salmon was just ok & did not like quintos/spinach it was sitting on, since it was overcooked & drenched in sauce.... More

First time here. Highly recommended. Started with spiced shrimp. We each had fried chicken--delicious. Homemade apple crisp and ice cream for dessert. Nice server. Beware of speed cameras!

Sitting squarely in what might have been the literal crossroads of Poolesville, Bassett's is in the center of the charming town (more like a village.) Passing working farms, orchards, and horse pastures, the drive alone is worth the visit, and as fall begins to really set-in, it will become even more picturesque. In what may have been an old house,... More

We've been going out to Bassetts for many years now. It draws an eclectic clientele. We've been there for lunch after bike riding on the C&O canal or dressed well after attending an event across White's Ferry into VA. It's a charming spot in a small town. I went a few days ago, however, and I'm left wondering if there... More

I had the quinoa patties appetizer and should have ordered two to make an entree, it was a fabulous dish. The waitress asked if we would like the sous chef to come out a describe how he made the? YES! and he did but I doubt I can recreate it at home. But I will try. He said they will... More
