On website it says OPEN. my kids were unhappy but we had a good meal right across the street. So next time you do construction post it on... More

My wife and I stopped by yesterday for lunch and ordered the $30 seafood platter. We were very disappointed by the clams on the platter, they were small and over cooked. When you go to woodman's you expect top notch clams. The shrimp and scallops were great but did not make up for the disappointing clams.

I love this place. The fried clams are some of the best around, and gluten free,no less! This place has been around for decades and feels like it, in a good way. I have eaten here in summer, when the lines are long and tourists are many, and in winter (most recently), when the locals dominate the scene. Prices can... More

The name, Woodman's, is synnonomus with fried clams. Good coating, very light and none too big. Clam chowder is full of clams and potatoes and not overly seasoned although, it is more soup-like rather than a thicker chowder. Price is a bit high, yet expected. Nice to revisit a childhood memory.

Having grown up nearby ,I have been to Woodman's numerous times going back 40+ years. On a post Christmas day road trip we decided to visit Woodman's for lunch. Maybe I just just trying to match my expectations, but I think yesterday's fried clams were the best I've ever had(and we live in an area profuse with good seafood)? Woodman's is... More

You can't go wrong here. Be prepared to wait on line in the summer but in the off season, you have the place to yourself. Never had a bad meal at Woodman's.

Thank you so much for your review! Yes, this time of year it is pretty quiet here yet the river and the saltmarsh are as beautiful in the winter as they are in the summer ... so different and worth the ride out to see as well as one of our area beaches. Nature in winter is so very peaceful... More

We went to the Russell Orchard for our annual pre-thanksgiving run for cider, and decided to stop at Woodman's after doing a short tour of Rockport. I usually get the boiled lobster -- but this late in the season, the outside boiler is down, and I prefer fried clams to waiting for a lobster out of the kitchen. My date... More

Woodman's is an institution on Boston's North Shore and Gloucester area. Classic New England shore hall ambience, with pine panelling and painted wooden tables and benches, basic and unpretentious but warm and cheerful. It is situated on land bordering the scenic salt marshes of the area, and upstairs seating commands nice views of the green vistas. Their battered seafood is... More

Having eaten at many seafood restaurants throughout New England, Woodman's continues to impress, clean, delicious Seafood, and friendly service. The Seafood platter with clams, scallops, shrimp and fish is fantastic, French fries and onion rings included!
