We happened across Virgilio's prior to a whale watch and it was amazing. We enjoyed delicious subs and scrumptious desserts. The prices were very reasonable. There was steady traffic throughout our short visit. It's obviously a popular spot for locals too!

Virgilios's is a Gloucester landmark and famous Italian bakery. There are several varieties of fresh bread as well as a range of pastry. You can order a sandwich to eat in with limited seatinrg or to go on the way to a beach. The fresh hot bread right out of the over is to die for. Try the cannolis.

Amazing old school Italian deli with the best sandwiches, colorful little Italian cookies, bread that is out of this world.... things I remember from my childhood....didn't know they still existed! Walked by late at night & saw the cook standing over a huge pot of sauce? soup? whatever, he was making it fresh for the next day. Do yourself a... More

You will NOT be disappointed!!! This Italian sandwich bakery is the ONLY place to grab a sandwich before the beach. Fresh baked bread, fresh cut cold cuts, Italian cheeses...THE BEST!

Any time we are entertaining we get our bread and Italian pastries at Virgillio's. They also make a great sandwich on rolls that you can't get anywhere else. Stop in if you are looking for the best Italian sandwich on the North Shore

They have the best bread around....people will drive to Gloucester to purchase it. Their sandwiches are great and they make and bottle their own Italian oils and sauces. Very nice

This is another local favorite. Virgilio's has been around forever! Come here to get the best sandwich in town along with breads and Italian favorites. Right downtown located on the West End. Stop in for a bite and take a little walk through town and maybe down to the boulevard to see the Fisherman's statue.

Been going here for years and it never fails. Wonderful family run sandwich shop who are always accommodating to my dietary restrictions. There's an endless amount of options for lunch, dessert, fresh bread to take away and a few shelves of straight out of Italy dry goods. St. Joseph's roll with hots all day!

Were shopping in the area and saw this place. We got a sub plus a couple of lobster tail pastries . All were great. Wish I could find subs that good at home. Nice staff and fast service.
