We bought full quarts of their famous chowder twice and it was the best I've ever had. Be aware that their opening hours can be irregular and they don't take credit cards - cash only

The Bite has always historically been one of the highlights of our Vineyard visit as we rarely indulge in fried foods. But our visit this year was very disappointing. The fried oysters were not made to order and were tasteless. The Quahog chowder lacked the plump clams and potatoes that make this a must when on the island. We discarded... More

i had been looking forward to visiting the bite since reading a piece about go to clam shacks. The chowder was outstanding! flavorful, big pieces of clams and just the right amount of potato. The clams were pretty disappointing. They were over fried and lacked consistent size. Some bellies were large and some almost nonexistent. I never care how much... More

Most of the food is fried here. I had fried coconut shrimp and enjoyed it! The fried fish sandwich was delicious as well. There are tables to eat outdoors, and parking if you're lucky.

The Bite isn't cheap and you have to be up for abandoning your regular healthy lifestyle for fried food. But c'mon - you're on vacation. And you'll be thinking of these fried clams all winter, promise. Tips: only canned beverages are available from a vending machine, but there's a deli across the way with a much larger selection. And bring... More

My Daughter LOVED this place. Best chicken fingers she has ever had! My fried oyster platter with fries was pretty good but pricey and was disappointed that their drinks consist of 2 soda machines.

The Bite is a walk up take-out restaurant whose specialties are fried clams, oysters and cod fish. All the seafood is fresh and cooked to tasty and tender perfection. A seafood lover for many years, I have never had more tender and flavorful fried clams anywhere, ever. French fries, potato salad, cole slaw and bottled soft drinks are also available.... More

This may seem obvious, but if you are not looking for fried food or a cup of chowder, don't go to the Bite. It is fine but so expensive! The Bite is always crowded with limited seating (2 picnic tables). We always go there but when I stop to think about it I don't know why.

Went for our annual visit to the spot. This year, I am beginning to wonder if it's worth the expense . For a non-seated location it seems to be a lot of money.

I mean this is not the kind of food you can eat every day but we wanted fried clams while on the vineyard. We walked over from the public beach and tried the fish sandwich, fried clams and fried zucchini. Not cheap at all, very expensive AND they only take cash! Luckily we had enough. They won't even give you... More
