Hidden gem not unlike Westport. The people and the food just as special. The Tavern a charmer in the base Tavern of an old barn. Given the proximity and influence of Rhode Island, like the land that time forgot, nostalgic and provincial. Reminded me of my youth. I am health conscious and think twice about risotto, but theirs was more... More
Great setting, good food, relaxing atmosphere. Tavern a bit busier but still a good night out. Music Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Weekly specials, and friendly servers.
Hi BPie2015, thanks for your continued patronage and thanks for your great review! we look forward to having you dine with us again. More
I used to come to Bittersweet often in the past, but I hadn't been in many years and I won't likely be back. My husband and I went Saturday night 3/4, early 5ish, to eat in the Tavern. We sat at the end if the bar. It was so noisy due to waitstaff congregating at the end and talking about... More

A very nice place for dinner or a private event. When events are happening upstairs the downstairs tavern serves dinner. Often crowded, call ahead. Good servers, great food, full bar, plenty of parking.
Hi smpfen, thanks for your continued patronage and thanks for your review! We look forward to serving you again. More
The atmosphere is rustic in the form of a barn. They can take reservations and have two choices: nice and casual in the tavern in the basement or a little more fancy up above.
AmtrakFan 1, thanks for your review. We typically only serve food in the downstairs tavern and host large events upstairs on the "main floor." From time to time, we'll open the main floor for public dining too. We're glad you enjoyed your visit! More
We've only eaten at the tavern downstairs - ambiance is nice, food is always good. Great variety in the menu. Be warned that if there is a wedding going on upstairs or if they have a band playing downstairs (weekend nights usually), it can get quite loud in the small space...
Take this with a grain of wisdom... we had soup and salads. We dined in the lower level bar area with the fireplace going on this, the first night with a frost warning in 6 months. The Chicken Cobb salad was $17, and full of chicken, egg, nice greens, bacon and actually well worth the price. The Harvest salad $8... More
Hi pearlyww, thank you for stopping into our Tavern, and thank you for leaving your review. Our cozy, fireside tavern is our main dining area, while the "main floor" is primarily used for weddings, events, and the occasional Sunday brunch. We alter our menu seasonally, sourcing as many local foods and flavors as possible. We look forward to you joining... More
We arrived without a reservation and were lucky to get a table. Fantastic server, varied and interesting menu at both ends of the price range. Duck, fish, sandwich and soup all rave reviews. And a lovely setting. Manager checked in to see how we were doing. Wish this place was closer to home, but we will definitely be back the... More

When I go here I always go downstairs to the pub, really nice cozy spot by the fire on a winter evening with a pint of local beer .The food is good a little pricy but you pay for what you get. Music on the week-end is unobtrusive so you can hear yourself think,
Hi Stephen F., thanks for stopping in and thanks for your great review. We're glad you mentioned the tavern as it's a nice little getaway to escape to. Like us on Facebook for more info on events and such. We also occasionally host Sunday brunch. Thanks for your continued patronage. More
