We went there because we purchased a cottage in the area and are checking out the restaurants within a 30 mile radius. There were a few tables that had customers, but for the most part it was pretty empty. We waited about 15 minutes before we were acknowledged. She took our drink order & said someone would be over to take our order. After another 10 minutes or so a waitress come and took our order. After 35-40 minutes our food finally came (2 burgers and fries). As we were waiting a couple of other tables put in their order & received their food way before we did. The burgers were over cooked which is a shame because they had a nice grill taste, but were tough. We wanted ketchup, finally my husband got up and went & asked someone & he came back with 2 little plastic containers. Out of the 3 different people who waited on us, only the one was fairly nice. I will say when our drink order was taken the waitress said they had several orders for pizza & the pizza cook wasn’t due in for another hour, but really there weren’t but 3 tables including ours. Won’t be going back.

We go here all the time. The owners have made many improvements over the years. Only thing disappointing recently is I got the cod plate and it wasn’t cod. They tried telling me whitefish was cod. I said OK and ate it, but it wasn’t cod. Go for the putine, HUGE portion.

This place used to be great. Declined under the current ownership. And has now improved significantly. Good pizza and truly flame broiled burgers. Good rebound!

Stopped here around 2pm with my parents for a late lunch as we were passing through town. Seated ourselves and waiting around 20 mins before we gave up and left. No one even acknowledged our presence and there was maybe a total of ten customers. The place was dark and the bathroom was dirty and smelled like smoke. Waitstaff walked right by us without ever even making eye contact. Do yourself a favor and eat across the street at Wolfs Den.

I often hit the Glennie Tavern when passing thru. This place has ice cold beer, great mixed drinks and greatest pizza around. Service is always good and a pretty popular place on Friday nights for their fish fry.
My only compliant if I had one to offer, would be years ago they had my favorite song, "Bar Room Buddies" by Merle Haggard on the juke box and its no longer there.

Up north dive bar with pizza and fried bar food. Friendly staff. Can't ask for anything more after a day of tubing on the AuSable.

We stopped last Friday to try the fish fry. We arrived about 6:30 and the place was nearly full (it is deer season). The friendly waitress arrived promptly and took our beverage order (water all around, and one cup of coffee which turned out to be undrinkable), then our dinner orders. She seemed surprised when we didn't all spring for the fish fry. Three of us did order the fish and one had a hamburger.
The fish fry includes french fries or baked potato, a dinner roll, and a trip to the soup and salad bar. The salad fixings were OK and the potato salad and macaroni salad were good. The potato broccoli soup was very good.
The waitress brought our drinks and our dinners, but everything else was self-serve from the salad bar area, including silverware, napkins, tartar sauce and butter.
The fish fry is served on a dinner plate - in our case, three very large pieces of cod (perch is also available at extra cost) and a large portion of so-so once-frozen french fries dumped on top. The dinner roll was under the fish. The portions were really too big and we ended up taking at least half our fish home with us.
The fish was good, but not great, moist, with the breading being a little too thick in places. Price for the fish fry is $8.95.
The tavern is dark, and was noisy due to the large crowd. I'd guess the place seats 80 or so.
Overall, I give the Glennie Tavern experience a 3 out of 5. I might have gone 4 if the emphasis had been more on quality rather than quantity, the coffee had been drinkable and if the server had brought the silverware, etc.

I was up north hunting and stopped in for a bite to eat. I have stopped in this place many times over the past 20 years but think this will be the last! The food at best is mediocre. Many people on here seem to like the fish which I have never had, but the burgers are certainly not good in my opinion. I could deal with the bad food if the service was good but it is not. With one person running the bar, serving the food and drinks to the restaurant, and cooking the food, be prepared to WAIT (and wait and wait and....)! A bright note in all of this, they finally have water to the urinal in the mens room so the place no longer smells like urine all of the time as it had in the past for years as the urinal didn't flush so they would just dump a bucket of ice in it to help get rid of the smell! Maybe I am just getting old and expecting more because I used to tolerate the place but have decided after this last visit I no longer can. Anyway, if you want less than average food, a long wait, and bad service in a filthy dirty environment, this is the place for you!

They have a fish fry on Fridays. You can order lake perch or cod and they are both tremendous! I had the lake perch and they serve you up a very generous portion ,fried just perfect and tastes great. Comes with fries for like 10 bucks. CNt beat it. Atmosphere is od a fast paced restaurant/bar with the staff very friendly and helpful.

Stopped here for lunch on a Friday hoping for some perch. The fish fry does not start until 5 PM. Ordered a burger and fries instead and it was very good

This place has Carling Black Label and Hamm's beers in a can. That all alone gives this establishement a thumbs up. You just cannot find those classics anywhere else. While your're there go ahead and try the fish.

The Glennie Tavern has the best burger I have been able to find in the north country and one of the best in the country I have found. It's all attributed to the well seasoned grill behind the bar. Don't go looking for high cuisine but if you want friendly service and one heck of a burger definitely make a stop in Glennie!

During the week it is pretty much just a bar for locals. We were there on a Friday night and if you removed the pool players, there were several, the place would have been empty. There was a pool tourney in process but they brought in their own food.
Bartender was our waiter, and our cook, and our beverage manager. Everything was just average.
