Double Cheeseburgers are terrific! Soft buns, great pickles. Fries & chili are great too. Hard to find a seat during lunch & dinner.

I'm not a hamburger fan but still would highly recommend it (me = hot dog and fries plus husband = hamburger and large fries all for about $7). Breakfast is an absolute steal there. Good food for super cheap (2 eggs, hash browns, sausage or bacon, toast, coffee or pop for about $5). It's a must when in Michigan!

So glad we "happened upon" this lace for breakfast .... The best combination ever ... Home cooking in a vintage diner, no frills awesome food, cheap and fast! Chili is phenomenal and the hash browns are the best. Can't wait to try the burgers!

This place is straight out of the 50's. Small burgers, crinkle fries and homemade shakes. Fast and excellent service. Attentive staff. Can be very busy at times. Excellent carry-out.

This is an excellent tiny diner in the center of Livonia. It's the kind of place where you can still order a bar of sliders with heavy everything- what's not to love. It's a family owned and operated icon of the city, which means local culture and great service.

We found Bates on the internet. Positives reviews, so we thought we'd try them. Excellent burgers and fries! Small building. Parking is somewhat tight. Easy to find. Burgers reminded me of White Castle, but on steroids! Meat had much better flavor then White Castle. Prices very reasonable too. I'd eat there again. Highly recommend.

I've been coming here since the 1980's and I can always count on a great burger (or 5 or 6) and fries. I usually get take-out as there are not many seats and it's usually very busy at lunch time, for good reason. Cheeseburger is my preference and they are always perfect with just enough onion. Fries are krinkle-cut and... More

It is by no means a fancy restaurant, but the hamburgers taste great and the staff is friendly and appreciative. You may have to wait a few minutes for your food, but it is worth the wait. Due to limited parking you may have difficulty finding a parking spot during busy times.

Everyone in the family loves Bates burgers. They are a little bigger than sliders, but have a great flavor. Order the French fries extra crispy and the milkshakes are yummy too
