Atmosphere casual/beachy. Restaurant on Hess Lake. Lots of boat access or from the road with ample parking for cars and boats. New decor, carpets and menus. Lots of old favorites on the menu and a few new offerings plus daily specials. Full bar. Grateful they still broil fish!!

The lakeside atmosphere is a welcome attraction. The food and service make it a desired location. My family has enjoyed a variety of treats at Smuggler's Cove. Their Fish and Chips make my mouth water. As I savor the pollock in breading, I can close my eyes and imagine I'm in an English Pub. We have returned frequently for said... More

Went on a thursday nite and they offered a 2 for $20 special. All 3 couples ordered special. Our special was the perch with salad appetizer or sundae. Salad was a bit brown and fried mushrooms were horrible.... looked like burnt buttons. They have you enormous amount of fries and about 6 slivers of perch. Waitress dropped one of the... More

It was a nice sunny day so the deck was nice overlooking the lake. Service was ok. Food was ordinary and very pricey. The inside looks like it needs a good cleaning. Probably won't go there again.

Decent service, I have worked here before, so the waitress do not treat me as they would an actual customer. Very good food. I have never been sick from their food. I would always recommend the food here.

Got there early on a weekday for lunch; 11;30. By the time we left, it was near full. Good food, decent service. (only bad part about the service was how long it took to have someone come to the table to take the order) The food was good, hot, and served quickly after ordering. It's pricey for the atmosphere.

We love this restaurant! Sitting right on Hess Lake, it has a great view and an outdoor deck. Good selection of food and service is always quick. Enjoyed the perch and shrimp. Stop in and see for yourself!

My family and I ate at Smuggler's Cove for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. They were not very busy but someone had reservations for the deck area. This is where we wanted to sit but the entire deck was reserved. As it turned out, we had four waiters helping us because they seemed a little disorganized about having... More

Went out with friends, looking for a change of place. Heard about Smugglers Cove, thought we'd give it a go. We were welcomed in & promptly offered a choice of 2 tables to sit at. Having noticed windows with a view of the lake, I politely asked if anything available up front, to which hostess replied, yes of course. (I... More

We haven't had very good luck with restaurants lately and our visit to Smuggler's cove in Newaygo, MI was the most resent. Two years ago after eating a burrito at Smuggler's Cove on a Saturday evening, I ended up in intensive care the following day with food poisoning. Although we can't pin this on Smuggler's Cove, we took the remainder... More

I am not posting this comment to convey that our business is flawless by any means, only to express my side of this story.
