Want Mexican go to Mangos in East Tawas

First visit with new owners. Still same unflavored taco meat barely any spices at all . To call this a taco lounge is still a huge mistake. Our taco meals came with rice and beans I asked for no beans and coleslaw instead waitress brought me out double rice I didn't say anything. Rice was undercooked or old and reheated very crunchy in spots. Get rid of the sour cream packets please very cheap and nasty. One of our group ordered a burger came plain no set up at all. Waitress said you have to ask for lettuce tomato etc... but when ordered didn't ask if he wanted anything on it. Sad because our waitress was the owners or managers wife would have expected better. Still not a bad place to eat just stay away from the Mexican stuff everything else is good. .Service needs improvement..

Atmosphere very nice , food not so much

I would expect a taco lounge to have Mexican food that is flavorful and spiced. But that’s not the case. It was our third visit and we had hoped something was just off the first two times but that wasn’t the case. Meat was bland and food lukewarm. Wait staff is accommodating and efficient but food definitely needs to improve. Shouldn’t serve quantity but quality

Unsatisfied with a long time Favorite Restaurant

My husband and I have always visited Desi’s when we come through Oscoda, Michigan. The Food and Service had always been excellent for a small tourist area. This was our first visit to Oscoda since COVID started in 2020. Unfortunately this restaurant like so many others have paid the price. Our waitress was very courteous, food was served quickly but the food quality was lacking. My enchiladas were quite bland. The sauce tasted like it was right out of can, with some additional hot sauce. Even the tortilla was undercooked. They were generous with the Beef (although also bland). Was very disappointed but may try them again on our next trip to Oscoda.

A great go-to restaurant!

We've visited Desis over the years but recently have made it one of our go-to restaurants. We meet with friends and family often because it has a great variety of comfort classics. Recently the fried fish has been a favorite, but there are many more good choices. We also enjoy their cocktails. They have bartenders who are knowledgeable on a range of cocktails The staff is always friendly and attentive. Recently had a baby shower there with 60 friends and family and it was the perfect place. Had a taco/nacho bar which everyone enjoyed. The event was well staffed and very attentive from the set up to the clean up. We highly recommend Desis.

The food and service was good. It’s American Mexican food but to be expected in an up north town. I had to chuckle when the “green” salsa was made with pickled jalapeños not tomatillos, lol! The portions were big, food was cheap and good.

Nasty Nachos

Who puts sand which cheese slices on the bottom of the platter of Nachos? Cheese was not melted, no cheese on top at all. No guacamole, no refried beans, no salsa, sour cream extra. And this is what they call Nachos supreme..About 12 nacho chips for dipping. Basically about 4 unmelted cheese slices topped with Hamburger and lettuce… won’t ever go back for such pathetic food.

Great food with amazing service

We stopped in today while we were out snowmobiling the staff was so welcoming and friendly. Frankie our server was great. Food came out rather quickly and everything was great I had the fajitas, my son had chicken parm and my husband had chicken sandwich deluxe everything was so good. We will be back

Friendliest staff in town. Large portions at an affordable price. They serve American meals too so there is something for everyone. Calming environment. They have the best Christmas decoration in town and have a train that runs all the time with local ads. They also have a pool table and game machines to keep the youngsters occupied while you visit or watch the new or sporting events on TV.

Great Casual Restaurant

Great casual restaurant with a ton of character and memorabilia. Staff was super attentive and polite during a busy Saturday night. Food was really good. Not sure what the negative reviews are talking about it.

I dont understand the bad reviews, but I see they are pretty old. My husband loves the Hamburger Steak. It’s enough for two people unless you are a big eater. My favorite is the Chicken Taco Salad. I have never had a bad meal there. Our guests have enjoyed it too. The staff is always friendly and attentive. We have gone there for 20 years, but more often lately. Love their Christmas displays.

Went to dinner last night and it was super busy. It took over an hour to get our food. I heard a few locals say that it never takes that long to get food. I loved our waitress though! She was upbeat and doing a very good job considering how crazy it was! I ordered fries and crispy chicken salad. The salad was great, fries were Luke warm.

They messed up a cheese enchilada. I’ve never seen that happen before in my life.

The staff is nice enough, but Desi’s has some of the worst food I’ve ever experienced. It’s dark and dirty. My family has taken me to Desi’s before and the food has always been either over or under cooked. I wouldn’t risk ordering meat there for fear of food poisoning. I ordered a cheese enchilada thinking it would be hard for them to mess up. I usually order cheese enchiladas if they’re on a menu and have never ever before come across a plate I couldn’t muster through until I went to Desi’s. When the enchiladas arrived at the table they looked off. Clearly someone had seen a picture of a cheese enchilada before, but I’m not sure they ever bothered to read a recipe. There was no enchilada sauce and it had black olives on it. I cut it open and liquid nacho sauce cheese came out. There was lettuce in the liquid cheese and onions (no warning that it had onions on the menu) the size of a pointer finger. I’m not sure how it was cooked, but the tortillas were cold as if they had spent no time in an oven. The rice was bland and crunchy. I actually sent it back. I tried to explain to the staff what was wrong with and they just stared blankly at me. I told them step by step how to make a cheese enchilada and they came out with two tortillas full of shredded cheese that clearly had been microwaved. If they can mess up cheese enchiladas that badly, it’s not a good sign.
