You have to try the soups; non-veggie, veggie and vegan as well as the inventive sandwiches and entres. BEST GELATO anywhere.

The Casual Chef is always one of my favorites for wonderful sandwiches! This week I had a grilled cheese on basil/tomato bread--very yummy! They also have baked goods to take out and a large selection of ice cream and gelato for a cone.

Okay people, this may be the first time in my long history of travel and eating in quirky food spots off the beaten path that I actually saw people being turned away because the chef didn't think he had the time to manage so many meals, but for my family of picky eaters (gold-club road warrior husband and 9-year-old) everything... We were told by our B&B host to stop in here after we had dinner for some of the best gelato around. I think gelato is healthier than ice cream, but either way, it was delicious. We both had one scoop. Mine was in a waffle dish and my wife's was in a cookie dish. Both were good. Price was... More

I do not like to write bad reviews, but I had one of the worst restaurant experiences of my life here today and I don't understand why this place is still in business. First, when we sat down the waitress said that there was only one cook and it would take at least 45 minutes for us to get our... More

This place should be mandatory if you are staying in the area. Our family visited many times on our week long trip to Union Pier. We craved the gelato. It had the most amazing flavors. Breakfast was tasty in house, but we also picked up donuts and muffins to go. Coffee was delicious. We went another day for lunch and... More

I'm surprised this place is still in business. We live nearby and tried this place for the first time when they just opened. Although their food is prepared with fresh ingredients, the wait is insanely long, and the way they treat their customers is TERRIBLE!!!! If you come in with kids, expect to be frowned upon. I get the impression... More

Very reasonably priced, good coffee, friendly wait staff. This place has that small town charm that's only a few hours away from Chicago, close to all the wineries and a walk from the lake. Well worth stopping in for breakfast or to try one of their many soups which are unique and delicious. They also have a nice selection of... More

My wife and I stopped by on a Saturday morning. There were only three other couples in the restaurant at the time but it still took 1/2 hour to be served. We both ordered blintzes for breakfast and fruit. The two blintzes that come with the regular order my wife ordered and the three I ordered were so tiny that... More
