As soon as we arrived at The Queens we were made to feel extremely welcome. The owner and staff members were very friendly and welcoming. Made us feel relaxed and asked if we wanted to sit and have a drink outside before having our meal,...which was very nice. We then went inside when our meal was ready to be served and the food was amazing, faultless. We had starters and mains (we couldn't fit a dessert in as we were too full!!). We went with a family from Epsom and we are from Leicester and all of us couldn't believe how good the food and service was. We will definitely visit again whenever we are in the area. Cannot wait until we are to be honest, it was so nice.More

See above! Just the best Steak pie I've ever eaten, and I've ate a few. Thick rich sauce, juice pieces of steak under a pillow of pastry. Signature pudding sundae was also amazing.

Fabulous little restaurant off the beaten track. Didn't have a booking but got us in. Some delicious specials and small, but so tempting, main menu. I had slow roasted beef cheeks with crushed potatoes. The meat was perfection and potatoes had lots of great tastes....Topped with some fabulous gravy / sauce...WOW!! Unfortunately for other diners, mine was the last portion they had...sorry guys 😉 My partner had Jamaican pork belly with coconut rice. Again it was simply amazing...she loved it! Oh, we also had starters...pigs in blankets on a black pudding bed, and aromatic crispy duck. Delicious. Staff so friendly, restaurant felt very intimate. Gardens looked amazing but no sunshine unfortunately...can imagine its a good place to sit when warm. Thank you so much to the Queens at Freehay 👍More

Just WOW!! The food here is incredible and the staff are just wonderful. I have nothing but amazing things to say about this place. The prices are very reasonable and the quality of the food is outstanding. We thoroughly recommend the beef and merlot pie...which is packed full of delicious filling and the most luxurious jus you have ever tasted! Also the chicken and leek crumble which was absolutely dreamy! The portions are huge and literally everything on the plate is perfection! Everything about this place is amazing! Starters, mains, desserts, coffee and wine. All of it was out of this world and I would 100% dine here again. Also, the owner was very accommodating, we had our medical assistance service dog with us and the owner gave us a huge table where there was enough room for our very large dog to lay down and be comfortable and this was very much appreciated. Honestly, if you get a chance please come and support this amazing venue, you will leave completely satisfied and just like me, will be desperate to come back! I feel very fortunate to have found this restaurant and will be adding it to my top ten places to eat in the UK and believe me, we have eaten in A LOT of amazing places all over the world. Very very very impressed!! 👏 👏 👏More

Had a lovely meal here, food was gorgeous, service was really friendly. Proper home cooked food made with top quality ingredients. Good knowledge of gluten free, for example could advise chips are cooked in same fryer as other things containing wheat so to avoid.

Found this pub through rave reviews on trip advisor/facebook and when arriving at our accommodation was also top on the ‘where to eat’ in our guide book. Phoned and booked prior to arrival due to COVID etc. Was very impressed with speed of service, friendliness...of staff and quality of food. Menus were paper so once finished with them we could use as placemats due to the pandemic , all staff were wearing PPE at all times and tables were socially distanced. Food was outstanding. I have been to local family run pubs and the food has been atrocious this was not the case!! Felt so nice to be able to go away on holiday and find such a hidden gem and be able to support them during these awful times. So much so I know of 2 people holidaying down this area in the next week and have recommended they visit this restaurant. Would definitely be back!!! Good value for money as well!More

We had a delicious meal here tonight. I had the Potatoe,Leek and Stilton Crumble and my partner had the Chicken wrapped in bacon and stuffed with Stilton. It came with veggies and a choice of chips, boiled or Dauphinios potatoes. We had chips and Dauphinios,...all very tasty. We had the Ameretti biscuit soaked in Ameretto with raspberries and the Belgium Waffle with Rum and Raisin ice cream for dessert both were yummy. There was a hand sanatiser station as you go in. We were seated straight away. Tables were nicely spaced out. Staff didn"t have to ware visors but kept thier distance. Service was great and staff very friendly. It's a lovely light and airy place and they have a nice court yard outside to sit and have drinks on a sunny day. We highly recommmend eating hereMore

Karen I must second that. Food is always exceptional. And I’m always impressed how with the younger service staff offer a service that’s faultless. Obviously they are as well trained as are their chefs. If you haven’t... More
