This was an excellent eating experience, and one of the best I have had in France in recent years. The food was fresh, well presented and the staff friendly and helpful. You may need to book as it was fully booked the previous night when...we tried to get in.More

This is the first time I've left a review. I refrained for two weeks but simply this has to be a worst eating experience ever. Regret to have chosen this place - the food put me off seafood forever. The starter was cheap and consisted...mainly of overcooked rubbery snails whereas the main, I ordered a fish dish, I could not find the slab of butchered fish because it was so heavily drowning in a sickly white emulsion of a sauce. It looked gross and tasted worse. My partner's steak and chips were both fried to death when he had asked for rare. To boot these was a short and curly public hair on his knife. The photos also suggest you have a Seaview it's mainly a main road you face. It was simply an awful experience. Also felt ill after. Poor all round.More

A welcoming host, followed by a lovely and filling dinner looking out over the sea. The unassuming front of the restaurant hide a pleasant experience and reasonably priced meal inside. The portions are both large and tasty.

Friendly couple who run this place provide excellent service and tasty food. Great value too. Croque Monsieurs and Burgers, to seafood and fine fish dishes. Good draft beer and a decent selection of wines. Nice view of Gold beach from the dining room. 5 minutes...from the British Normandy Memorial and the Mulberry harbor. Easy parking.More

Ate here one evening from the set menu and was not disappointed; very tasty, good portions and fine value. The service was friendly and leisurely paced. Good terrace to watch the sun go down as you eat.

When arriving at first it may not be what you have been expecting. When entering the restaurant you are welcomed by an extremely kind staff! The fish seems to have been caught just minutes before eating it in this restaurant! The only thing, maybe open...a terrace at the other side of the building so you can have dinner watching the sunset!More

We went there as it was just next to our B&B. Very friendly owner, who makes you really feel welcome. Special attention for our 10 years old Son. Food is really good. Restaurant design is simple but that is ok. Price/Quality is very high. I...enjoyed the Seafood platter and the oysters. Got even some tips to buy oysters from a local fishermen.More

Many people, when they travel, have the desire to find restaurants serving authentic local cuisine that tastes just like at home and comes with the corresponding atmosphere... ...and that’s exactly what La Barak’a is like. A genuine, no frills, family-run place, with simple but excellent...regional dishes and outstanding value for money. Don’t let its unassuming facade deceive you, La Barak’a is popular with the locals, so even on off-season weekends you better reserve ahead.More

We happened upon this restaurant on a sunny Sunday and sat on the patio. We were thrilled with the friendliness of the owners and the quality of the meals. The fisherman’s platter was sublime and the hamburger homemade and delicious!

Very big portions of great seafood. I recommend the restaurant if you like oysters, whelks and fish. We ordered the four course menu with Asiette de fruits de mere as the starter. The dish was very tasty with oysters, whelks and prawns. The rest of...the dishes where also delicious. BR TomMore

This place was recommended by a local friend of mine, we lunched their on a Saturday. The food was tasty, and staff friendly. My partner's fish dish was very generous, portion wise, the seafood casserole that I ordered was good, but somewhat small, and the...mash potatoes served, were tasty, but not warm enough. Will come back during the week to try their lunch menu.More

we've been to La Barak a 2 evenings in a row with a large group (12 and 8). When you arrive you feel welcomed by the hosts Sophie and Michael who literally 'run' for you to make you feel at home. The food comes quickly...and is of good quality. Especially the seafood is great. I would really go here again next time I'm in Normandy.More
