I read a lot about the good food and big servings at this place. I agree with the portions, and the prices are really cheap, but it is a cash only establishment. Personally I wasn't that impressed with my Omelet. It was watery inside. Other things I saw however would likely bring me back to try again. They have hubcap... More

We liked the "vintage 60s" ambience, and read a lot of glowing reviews, mainly about their fabulous breakfasts, so we chose to have dinner here. The food was a bit reminiscent of what my college dorm served in the 1970s. My walleye was overcooked, the mashed potatoes were smothered in brown gravy, and the vegetable was frozen corn. The salad... More

The Great Northern cafe was recommended to us by our waitress the restaurant we were at the night before. We probably would have never stopped if she didn't say suggest it. It doesn't look like much and really is your typical diner/cafe. The pancakes were delicious. Nice sized portions, good food, great prices. If going on Sunday get there before... More

It is old and lacks appeal, but the portions are enormous and the food is excellent! I had the Great Northern Omelet and it was stuffed full of meat and cheese and there was no way I could finish it! It is more then enough food and very reasonable! My omelet complete with toast and hash browns was $8.00!

My favorite is the #12 for breakfast. Chicken fried steak, two eggs, hass browns and toast. They also have wonderful omelettes.

Don't let its appearance discourage you from stopping in. They have a great breakfast and it is very popular with the locals including myself. I have been going there for breakfast for many years. Love the place!

We go here ALL the time!! Food is always good, great prices, huge selection, friendly staff... You must try the French Toast!! Omelets are great, yummy burgers and sandwiches... The only thing that might be a negative for some, the building is not the prettiest, inside and out ... But I guess I'm used to it and it doesn't bother... More

It's off season here, so there aren't many places to go for breakfast. I took a friend with me and was disappointed in our veggie omelettes. Canned mushrooms and the "with Swiss cheese" meant a slice laid on top of the omelette. It's a busy, place and you do get a lot of food for your money. I guess it... More

The Swedish Meatball dinner was on special for the day we were there for lunch. It was delicious. We got a big portion of mashed potatoes, corn and two big meatballs!

We have vacationed in Park Rapids for over 20 years and breakfast is always at the Great Northern. The service is good and the breakfast choices are many, a large portion is served which is a good value. The omelettes could be shared, French toast is the best. The atmosphere is very basic but it's worth a stop.
