We visited tonight for our second wedding anniversary and we are so glad we chose this restaurant! It was very quiet because of a Tuesday, we where sat right near the fireplace which was nice. Food was an A+, my husband had the beef tenderloin and you could cut it with a butter knife. I had the aged New York... More

This turned out to be the perfect place for a get together with old friends - great food, terrific waitress (you rock, Ali!), and quiet enough that we could have good conversations. The butternut squash soup was very good, those of us who ordered the pork chop were pleased as was our friend who ordered the steak. We were not... More

great atmosphere. food was very good; however, I felt it was over priced for what we got. I have eaten in several high end restaurants in Minneapolis and St. Paul that cost just as much and the food was much better than the Port

After dining at Staghead, we were looking for a quiet bar to have a few after-dinner cocktails. Jimmy's (upstairs at the St. James) was recommended, but it felt a little too stuffy to us, so we decided to head to the Port. Even though you're in "the basement," it still feels like a nice, cozy atmosphere. The bartender was excellent... More

My friend and I dined last evening at THE PORT restaurant at the St. James Hotel in Red Wing, MN. Not knowing what to expect, all expectations were not only met but exceeded, much to our great delight! The dining-room is located below the main floor lobby area, and can be accessed by elevator or stairs (carpeted) easily enough. The... More

This restaurant was a "sleeper" in that we did not expect to be so impressed. We'd heard the food was delicious and we had high expectations, but delicious is an understatement. The food is exceptional and the menu is creative while maintaining its familiarity to tradition. The surroundings are lovely -- in a limestone cellar beneath a historic, landmark hotel... More

We stayed at the St James for our anniversary Sat Oct 08. We decided to dine at the Port restaurant for our anniversary dinner. We arrived at 7:15 and they sat us at the first table by the host stand. Assumed the other tables were reserved, or I would've asked to be moved from the high traffic area. The other... More

Without exception, the Port Bar is a really pleasant experience. The bartender, Lori, is always up and ready to make your bar dining and beverages into a delightful evening. We love the food here but be careful with your server. We have had a woman that has worked there forever and is rude and unkind and will sour your evening. DON'T GET HER! Apart from that experience, we love this place. I was so upset with her that I contacted the manager of the place and they said she... More

The Port is a great spot to grab a drink with friends or that special someone. They also have fabulous desserts sure to end your night on a high note. They have fabulous made on location ice creams. My favorite is the salted caramel with caramel popcorn. Trust me on this one.
