I really enjoyed this restaurant in historic downtown Jackson, MS. I ordered the pig ear sandwich and tamales both of these dishes were prepared well. The culture in the restaurant is extremely unique and would recommend anyone to try it once.

We stopped in for lunch. I think there is only 3 things on the menu. Sausage sandwich, which I ordered. Cost. $1.50. Pigs ear sandwich, which we passed on and there were tamales, which came in 6's or 12's. There small and 6 was enough, and they were pretty good. While we were there several people came in for take... More

Even though this might not be the best food in the world. It's worth eating there. It's good, it's cheap, it's a whole in the wall BUT it's a landmark and part of historic Farish St. in Jackson. Unfortunately all the chains are taking over nowadays and these small businesses can't survive. Try and be glad you went there.

We all like for our food to be cared for and handled by the food regulation standards set forth. Therefore, staff should not have their children and grandchildren behind the counter where and while your patron's food is being prepared. The workplace is not always the best place for family if family does not respect boundaries. Also, food should not... More

We dropped by for lunch a week ago. It's truly a local haunt and had a line of people waiting on to-go orders. You order at the counter and wait for your name to be called. Drinks are dispensed, self serve, from a machine. Be patient at lunch, it's not fast food! The staff and locals were friendly and courteous.... More

However, I was home last month and looked forward to stopping at the Big Apple Inn, had my Fiancé' with me and had bragged on the... More

My husband and I saw this place on t.v. a couple of years ago and knew we had to make the 12 hour trip sooner or later. I use to eat pigs feet as a child so I had previous experience with the odd parts of a pig. I did a lot of research on line so I knew what... More

If you're in Jackson for a day or several, make time to grab a sandwich at The Big Apple Inn. I'm not talking about a NY deli sandwich but a pig eat or smokie sammich. One of the places the food network folks have been to and recommend. These ears are slow boiled with flavor. Topped with abundant amount of... More

I'm a northerner with southern roots. Both parents born and raised in Jackson, MS and many visits to the area during childhood to visit family. I've made previous trips to "Big John's" during childhood. Recently, I've been trying to make an annual trip to MS to see family and every time I visit Big Apple Inn. It continues to get... More
