Those "Glowing reviews" you mentioned were from some of my regular customers who saw those two reviews I had received and they didn't agree with them any more than I did. They saw that it might be hurting my business and took action. Their words were their own. I had been in the top 10 restaurants here in Columbia for over 5 1/2 years before these two people come on and unfairly raked me over the coals. Most of the content in those two bad reviews were either false, or grossly exaggerated. We have and still do what we do every day the same way since we opened in 2010. We never treat customers badly and I personally cook all of the BBQ to ensure good quality and want all of my customers to enjoy what we serve and what we do here. There are only two people who work here full time, myself and one full time employee and one guy who helps out on the weekend. We work very hard and take pride in what we do, Please read the vast majority of our reviews are great and people have praised us. As for my responses to those mean spirited reviews I feel no remorse. Those people went out of their way to hurt me and my business. NO WAY did I treat them as described. One person complained that every bite had "Skin" in it. Nothing, and I mean nothing I cook or serve has skin of any kind on it before or after I cook it. Another person complained about me not being ready for them at 11 am when that arrived, when we do not open until 11:30 am and that is clearly posted on the front door. We did actually let those people in early as soon as the floor was mopped and I remember clearly how we greeted them cheerfully and allowed them to come on in and sit until we got open (about 10 minutes after we let them in) on time. I am not a chain restaurant. I am the only owner and worked here 60 or more hours a week, I will not just sit back and allow some self appointed "food critic" who knows nothing about my business and what it takes to keep the doors open to run me down like that. Why should someone be allowed to be so nasty but I can't defend myself and my business. Sorry, that is just not right. I ask every customer when they are here how they are doing with a smile and genuinely care how they are treated and that their food is good. I have no respect for people who wait and go stab me in the back like a few have done. Most people know we are a happy, fun, welcoming BBQ place and that we work very hard to serve great BBQ. If my regulars want to come to my defense (as they have) I welcome that with much gratitude.
