We were passing through Hannibal and only stopping for lunch. I found this place through TripAdvisor. The building is a little old and needs some work and updating. One bathroom was being remodeled, so it was a pain having to wait (especially with a potty-training toddler). It also was very warm in the restaurant on a day when it was... More

The root beer is delicious. The sandwiches are definitely "made-rite". My family and I would dine again.

The wife and I stopped in for a quick bite and found the place had changed. The restaurant was very bright, very clean. The food was great and the service was very good. I would recommend the Mark Twain Dinette to everyone.

Good selection food. Portions generous without being overwhelming. Great fries. Loved their root beer. Not sickly sweet like many others. Service attentive. What more do you want in a diner in a small town?

Our family made a road trip to visit historical Hannibal. It was a beautiful Saturday drive. We went down to visit friends and do the festival. Had lunch at Mark Twain Dinette located across from Mark Twain's childhood home and Becky Thatcher's home. The cafe was a neat family owned restaurant famous for their homemade root beer floats. We of... More

We saw a sign in front of the restaurant that advertised Maid Rites and homemade root beer. That's what we had, and it was wonderful. It is a friendly, clean and affordable place to eat, and they celebrate Hannibal's connection to Mark Twain.

We came for lunch. We had DELICIOUS Onion rings and a made rite sandwich for appetizers to split. Then we BOTH had fried chicken for lunch with WONDERFUL green beans, Cole slaw and mashed potatoes. All was yummy. BUT the home made Root beer in chilled mugs was the HIT of the day. Endless refills and they came often. We... More
