It had been years since I'd popped into Grunauer; not sure why, because our visit for lunch this time was quite enjoyable. We split our lunches -- the schnitzel with mushroom sauce, with pasta; and the beef shoulder with mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts. The beef was bright pink and delicious. In fact, we enjoyed the entire meal -- but... More

I have never been to Europe, but I would love to say that this food is some of the closest you will find in KC to that in Europe (according to my associates that have been to Germany). I love the food as does my wife. I have had a variety of Items there, but my favorite dishes are the... More

This was our first visit to Grunauer and we will definitely be returning. Both my wife and I had a shnitzel, I had the Jager and my wife had the Cordon Bleu and we were both very happy with our choices. The location is fantastic, as well. All 3 restaurants in the freight house (Lidia's, Jack Stack, and Grunauer) are... More

Food was excellent. Our group of 7 ordered steak medalions, jaeger schnitzel, sirloin w pommes frittes, traditional schnitzel, and goloush. The food and beverages were served in timely manner. Wine sauce on tenderloin was excellent, mashed potatoes great flavor! Jaeger Schnitzel had excellent creamy mushroom sauce. Sirloin was tasty and had plenty of juice. One of our party, a teenage... We had pork belly, schnitzle with cucumber potato side and spatzle. Cocktails are yummy too! Top it off with a vienna cappuccino! Friendly service, cute building.

Ate here with family. Great beer, steak, and gulasch. Nice renovated warehouse. Knowledgeable staff. Good for family or dinner date. Is pricey, $12-26 for lunch entrees, but very tasty.

For a great taste of Austria make time to visit Gunauer! We enjoy trying different kinds of regional foods and were very pleased with our visit to Austria right in the middle of the Crossroads district in KC! Fantastic venue, pitch perfect wait staff (including the owner) and a wide-ranging menus made this a 5 star lunch for us! This... More

The food, service, building and atmosphere was unique and excellent!! We (3 Guys) each got a schnitzel dish. We split the cheese strudel 3 ways! It was so good I'm surprised one of us didn't get stabbed with a fork in our rush to finish it!!! We will absolutely be back again!!!!

After the tree lighting ceremony downtown we went to Grunauers afterward. I've been several times as it is hard to find a good Austrian restaurant that serves a delicious schnitzel. I personally love the Jager schnitzel with spatze. Nothing tops off the wonder meal like their apfel strudel, which is not overly sweet but pure heaven. The restaurant is beautifully decorated... Grunauer is a good option for German food in Kansas City. I ordered the Traditional Schnitzel, a side of the Red Cabbage and the apple strudel take away. The staff are more than accommodating and the restaurant is very nice. The food is on par with a German supermarket deli (in Germany) and not impressive. The prices are in line... More
