Very bad experience. We were driving from Chicago to St Louis on 25th March 2017 , hungry and searching for halal food. Saw good reviews for this restaurant and stopped by for to go. Ordered Karahi Chicken and didn't check the packed food considering faith on them. As we reached our hotel 20 miles away and opened the packet, saw... More

Reasonably priced food that looks and tastes authentic! Probably not the place to impress your date aesthetically, but a unique option if you're both feeling adventurous. The mixed grill offers a good sampling of meats, without the risk of committing to one. The serving staff was attentive and helpful.

Visited for lunch on a Sunday. The restaurant is much larger than it seems from the front. I had the Afghani Muntoo, which is similar to beef ravioli, but with Middle Eastern spices. We also ordered the hummus which was very good. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

We were in a rush today for lunch and these guys check off every box. Amazing food (check) Amazing service (check) Food arrived quickly (check) Fair price (check). We enjoyed a lamb shank platter which was a little pricey for lunch but for a lamb shank it was a steal. We also had an eggplant dish. The two dishes had... More

All they are missing is alcoholic beverages. The food is excellent and the portions are generous. We come in at least one a month.

Some of the best lamb shank I've ever had! And the most flavorful rice to go with it! I've been to several middle eastern restaurants across the country and Sameem's Lamb Qabelli Palau is one of the best stewed lamb shank with basmati rice dishes I've ever had. The really reasonable price is a great bonus to boot! The chicken... More

The restaurant is on Manchester and there is no parking on the street. However, you can go may be a 100 feet west and there is public prking on north side of the street. With that out, the food is very good. I had Lamb Qabuli on the recommendation of the server and I was not disappointed. It is very... More

Looking for a lunch place that offered something other than burgers, BBQ or pizza....Sameem Afghan Restaurant was 'perfect'. The wait staff helped me decide between two menu choices and the Butter Chicken was the choice. Oh my...it was one of the best, most flavorful dishes I have even had! The flavor is hard to explain other than delicious. I am... More

This restaurant offers high quality original Afghan food. Ingredients are great, supreme use of spices, great flavor and light dishes. We loved the hummus and the mixed appertizer! We will definitely come back!

While I've had other dishes here, my favorite is the lamb shank, the Qabelli Palau version with raisins and carrots. It adds some sweetness to the dish. This time though I tried the Lamb Beriani version. Don't worry about the "spicy" warning. That means they use a lot of spices, but it is not spicy hot. Huge serving of rice... More

Description
Sameem is the first and, for the time being, only Afghan restaurant in the entire state of Missouri. Predominantly serving traditional Afghan cuisine consisting of lamb, chicken, hearty stews, kabobs, chops and rice dishes. We also cater to the vegetarian population, offering a number of tasty pastas and vegetarian entrees. Afghan style possesses a very balanced and delicious flavor. When it comes to service, we stand by our name. Our food is consistently excellent, both appetizing and delicious, and we serve very generous portions at reasonable prices. The dining room atmosphere is classic and elegant. Our restaurant has already received numerous awards, such as being named "One of the top 5 new Restaurants in 2005" by The St. Louis Post Dispatch, "The Best Middle Eastern Restaurant in 2006" by River Front Times Magazine, and the "Concierge Preferred Business of 2007" by Concierge Magazine. If you have never had Afghan food, please visit Sameem and you will become forever a fan. History Established in 2005. We are the only Afghan Restaurant in the State of Missouri. We opened in 2005 and have achieved numerous accomplishments such as the best 5 new restaurants, Best Middle Eastern Restaurant, Meet the Managers Qayum Mohammad Fahime Mohammad My brother/partner and I came to the States in 1991 to escape turmoil in Afghanistan. We started our restaurant Careers at Old Warson Country club as busboys and worked our ways up to the ranks of waiter and supervisor. One day my brother bought me a meal to work that his wife had cooked. I shared the food with co-workers who were curious what I was eating. After they tasted it and immdeately said "You guys should open a restaurant serving this food". One Sunday the two of us were taking between shifts break at the employees dinning room and my brother opened The Sunday paper and Noticed a restaurant for sale. He immediately said " I swear if we open an Afghan restaurant there, we will be very successful" And we did so.
