How is it that I only tried Sameem on my last month in St. Louis? You mean to tell me I've been to college staples like Mission Taco about ten times (many against my will, because others picked the restaurant) but just once to Sameem?...More

I have eaten here more than 3 times, and everytime has been fantastic. Food is truly amazing. They do not sell alcohol but you are more than welcome to bring your own (Urban Chestnut is right around the corner). Service is also great and quick,...More

My sister and I were tired and hungry and found Sameem near our AirBnB. What a lucky find. The food was delicious and Monica, our waitress, was delightful. We had an excellent cucumber and tomato salad and a spicy chicken dish. It was incredibly inexpensive...More

First of all, most visitors to St. Louis from much larger cities (we're from Chicago...) will be hard to impress culinarily (I think I just made up a word:-)...). Sameem would absolutely hold its own among family owned Afghan restaurants that we've enjoyed in Chicago...More

Kind of hole in the wall and the service can be a bit slow but the food was delicious. Chicken kebab is very good and so is their Naan.

Sameem is the only Afghani restaurant in Saint Louis. Located in a popular part of town, near the Botanical Gardens. The food is more than delicious, it's suburb. The ambiance of the restaurant is very simple, doesn't represent the quality and taste of food they...More

Everytime we come to St. Louis (about once a year) we make it a point to visit Sameem's. The food is wonderful and authentic. For those unfamiliar with Afghan food, it brings together flavors and ingredients familiar to Middle Eastern, Indian, and Persian cuisine, but...More

While the food was not as tasty as I would have hoped, there were enough vegetarian options for me and my friend to enjoy a good meal and a great conversation. The meals are good value, and our waitress even brought out complimentary chai when...More

Having never tasted Afghan cuisine before, I was intrigued to see this restaurant in The Grove neighborhood. It's a short walk from the hotel (Home2Suites). I ordered the Vegetarian Plate consisting of Eggplant and Potato Boorani, Spinach, and Basmati Rice; and Hummus and a Pashtoon...More

Simple decoration, friendly service and tasty food- very reasonably priced. We had a middle eastern feast-consisting of Hummus, Falafel a salad and amazing eggplants. For entrees we had a chicken beriani and "the emperor's kebabs served with a mountain of tasty basmati rice. It was...More

Sameem is the first and, for the time being, only Afghan restaurant in the entire state of Missouri. Predominantly serving traditional Afghan cuisine consisting of lamb, chicken, hearty stews, kabobs, chops and rice dishes. We also cater to the vegetarian population, offering a number of tasty pastas and vegetarian entrees. Afghan style possesses a very balanced and delicious flavor. When it comes to service, we stand by our name. Our food is consistently excellent, both appetizing and delicious, and we serve very generous portions at reasonable prices. The dining room atmosphere is classic and elegant. Our restaurant has already received numerous awards, such as being named "One of the top 5 new Restaurants in 2005" by The St. Louis Post Dispatch, "The Best Middle Eastern Restaurant in 2006" by River Front Times Magazine, and the "Concierge Preferred Business of 2007" by Concierge Magazine. If you have never had Afghan food, please visit Sameem and you will become forever a fan. History Established in 2005. We are the only Afghan Restaurant in the State of Missouri. We opened in 2005 and have achieved numerous accomplishments such as the best 5 new restaurants, Best Middle Eastern Restaurant, Meet the Managers Qayum Mohammad Fahime Mohammad My brother/partner and I came to the States in 1991 to escape turmoil in Afghanistan. We started our restaurant Careers at Old Warson Country club as busboys and worked our ways up to the ranks of waiter and supervisor. One day my brother bought me a meal to work that his wife had cooked. I shared the food with co-workers who were curious what I was eating. After they tasted it and immdeately said "You guys should open a restaurant serving this food". One Sunday the two of us were taking between shifts break at the employees dinning room and my brother opened The Sunday paper and Noticed a restaurant for sale. He immediately said " I swear if we open an Afghan restaurant there, we will be very successful" And we did so.
