This place is frequented more by locals than tourists, I think. The staff seem to know most of the customers, including our friends who took us to Sassafras. The food is quite tasty. The fried chicken I had was unusually good...the crust was crisp and flavorful and the meat was tender, juicy and delicious. The bartender makes a fine saharan!

Surprisingly innovative/edgy menu for this cozy/fun location. Varied entrees with nice beer selection and sometimes live entertainment.

We eat out once a week, so we really try and find new places around town, being relatively new to the area we always use trip advisor to help us make good choices, there really isn't an abundance of great restaurants in Carson city. We got a New Orleans kind of vibe..or at least that's what they are going for!... More

The atmosphere was as they describe, eclectic. The shrimp and cheese fondue was excellent. Best fried chicken we've had at a restaurant, and the bacon and bleu burger didn't disappoint. They make their own pickles and ketchup too. Great service and reasonable prices.

We heard about Sassafras from friends and have been there several times over the last few months. We love the food and the service is always friendly. The menu is extensive with a lot of variety. You might call it eclectic. There's always a ton of specials too. Good bar and plenty of parking. You could even take a dip... More

This is my favorite kind of place. Creative yet simple. Moderately priced. Casual. Sandwiches are amazing. Service is friendly and appreciative. Cant say enough good things.

Ask about the items not on the menu, my Husband had a triple tower of terror and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had to beat salad and it was delicious! Good service, good food!

What a fantastic lunch! Eclectic is the perfect description of the food here. We had the Falafel salad and two empanadas (pork carnitas and carne asada) served with coleslaw. All of it was fantastic. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient with an excellent sense of humor. Price was very reasonable for the quantity and the quality of the food.... More

I love the food here and all the gluten free options! That being said, the service that we have received has been consistently cranky (no less than 8 different times). I will go back, though.
