We ate here based on the suggestions of many as one of the best off strip steakhouses in Vegas. When you arrive you may be underwhelmed as the signage is probably the same signage from when they were founded in 1958. You step in and...you are immediately transported to the 60s, when Vegas headliners frequented there. If you call in advance you can reserve the Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Junior or many others that have booths dedicated to them. The service is top notch, from our lovely hostess that seated us to our team of servers. The drink menu looked terrific, the wine menu was complete and had options by the glass or bottle. They offer a wide variety of appetizers that we did not try, but sounded great. My husband ordered the wedge salad with homemade Roquefort dressing. He enjoyed it very much. They also make caesars salad table side. And if course they have steak. They also have seafood and Italian dishes, but we were there for steak. My husband had the prime rib, that is offered in 3 sizes. No human should eat that much, but he did and he loved every bite! I had the bone in ribeye, which was delicious. We shared a side of lyonaisse potatoes... very tasty. We shared a cherries jubilee for dessert. One could be shared between 2 or 3. It isn't a cheap meal, but what a wonderful place to go. Nostalgic, top notch service, melt in the mouth steaks, they have it all. I would definitely make reservations. If you go, I'm sure you will enjoy. If you don't, you missed out.More

Tried this for a birthday dinner. Very nice place with a lot of history. Waiters are very cordial. Started off with the best part of the night, caesars salad made at the table. Best I've ever had. We then had the tomahawk steak for 2....They suggested it be cooked medium rare plus to be good for both of us. The steak was medium rare, was smaller than others we have had and had a lot of fat in it. Not as good as we hoped. Was even tough when we warmed it up later. The twice baked potato was very good. Creamed spinach was ok not a lot of taste to it. They brought a piece of cheese cake to the wife for her birthday. Very nice and was tasty. Just thought that 195 for a tough small tomahawk steak was hard to swallow-ha. Would have to try something else on the menu if we get back to Vegas.More

Ucso17, thank you for choosing us to celebrate such a special occasion. It is unfortunate that the steak was not to your preference. Please know we will be reviewing the comments you provided internally. We do hope you'll give us another opportunity in the future.

We saw this place pop up on Google due to its links to Elvis and Sinatra. We expected it to be a themed type steakhouse with lumps of meat dressed up as steak and overpriced due to the association to Vegas Legends. Quite simply we...were wrong! It was a high end establishment. Although the website mentions a dressed code, I would probably disregard it and dress up! Shirts and trousers are probably recommended for gentlemen. I was wearing a T-shirt and felt a bit underdressed. We asked for the rat pack booth in advance and we were given the best table in house; Frank Sinatra’s booth! The food was great! It is a high end steak house. The steaks are expensive, but worth it! We didn’t order the Caesar salad- but others did, and it was a big performance- I loved watching them making it at the tables! We had a great time and had a great waiter; I’m fairly sure his name was Carlos. He even showed us the mob room at the end. He told us some of the history; members of the mob would dine in this room and escape if the police ever arrived. It was a great addition to a great meal. I’ve decided that we will visit each and every time that I visit vegas in the future!!! Well done Golden Steer and well done Carlos!More

I was so excited to visit the Golden Steer for a third time. I was here for the lobster tail, and just didn't live up to my expectations. It was tough and just not enough flavor. As I sat at the bar waiting on my...table, I heard comments that the place just isn't the same after opening back up after Covid. My dirty vodka martini was great and Caesar salad was too. The mashed potatoes I ordered I sent back. How can you mess up mashed potatoes, I ask? I hate to give a subpar review but thought The Golden Steer should know.More

As soon as I confirmed my trip to Las Vegas, I called my favorite restaurant to make a reservation...5 months in advance! It would be my first visit on almost two years and I was excited to go back to the Golden Steer. I've been...coming to Las Vegas since I was a small kid in the 60's, thanks to my Dad's annual convention, so I grew up knowing the city's steak houses. Some, like Copper Cart and House of Lords, care resigned to history But the Steer remains. I'd booked an early dinner on arrival day and anticipated a good meal. I was not disappointed! The staff was as courteous and welcoming as I remembered, though Covid brought masks and gloves as the latest uniform additions (fine by me!) I was escorted to Holly Madison's favorite booth in the old school main dining room. The wait staff discussed my choices: Caesar salad, a bone in 22oz ribeye, peppercorn sauce and a loaded baked potato. Everything arrived perfectly done and the meal was as delicious as I remembered. No room for Bananas Foster, but I promised to save room on my next trip. Service was impeccable, and the atmosphere just right (not too quiet, not too scene, not too loud). My entire dinner (before tip) cost as much as a steak would in some of the Strip properties and was just as satisfying. I look forward to another meal soon.More

I was very happy with the service I received when visiting Golden Steer for a recent special occasion celebratory meal. Truly classic Vegas dining experience! Impeccable service and the Caesar salad! So good I felt compelled to mention it in a review of a STEAK...HOUSE! This restaurant has been in business for over 60 years and it shows in their attentiveness to their craft. Big thumbs up!More

For not knowing what to expect I was surprised. The wait staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. They made sure we had a good time. They kept our drinks filled which is a must for us. The waiter made the Cesar salad at the table...from scratch which was interesting to watch. I have to admit the volume in a restaurant was loud. I didn’t expect that from a formal restaurant.More
