Been here many times, whenever we are in the area. Located at teh top of Kingsbury Grade, right on the ridge that separates the Carson Valley and the Lake Tahoe basin, and with spectacular views of both, The Hungry Bear is hidden inside the Ridge Tahoe and is only open a couple nights a week. Availability is hit and miss... More

It's the Wandering Yank here. I stayed with a couple of friends at the Ridge for a long weekend, and since the weather was awful one night, reservations at The Hungry Bear were a good idea. It's a very nice, quiet place. There was a guitarist providing mood music - it really added to the atmosphere. The wine list is... More

Easy choice after a long ski day, because the restaurant is right at the resort. However, it is only open a couple days a week. Reservations are helpful. The waitstaff is great. The pianist is outstanding, and we enjoyed his entertainment, as much as the dinner itself!

My wife says: "that was wonderful!" One of the best Caesar salads- made from scratch-delicious! My ribeye melted in my mouth, my wife's salmon-again, delicious! The menu consisted of only three items, but we made the right choices!

My family and I went there for Thanksgiving dinner. Adult price was $43 and child's price was $19. The child's size was the same portion size as the adults. I was a beautiful atmosphere and live music. My husband wanted the traditional turkey, stuffing, and mash potatoes. He and my son were very happy campers! They were loving every morsel.... More

Wonderful food. Excellent service. The chef has an incredible gift for making everyday food taste incredible, like steak and green beans. His produce is extremely fresh, and he does wonderful things with vegetables. Look forward to a great dinner with a nice wine list. If you bring in your own wine, the corkage is,15.00. All in all. Great place to... More

A less than appetizing experience that was very expensive. We were served breakfast on dirty plates.

This hidden gem was only open on Wed and Thursday night during our stay at The Ridge. They offered a fixed price menu with your choice of 4 entrees - salmon, chicken, steak, scampi and a nightly special of halibut. It came with soup or salad, dessert (lemon cheesecake) and a glass of wine. All this for $26.00 per person.... More

Excellent food. Limited menu. Great kids options plus they get free dessert. Only open 2 nights. You must make reservations. Well worth it! We had steak.

The Hungry Bear is located within the Ridge Tahoe Resort, so may not be available to all parties. It is usually open for only 2 - 3 nights per week. All food is extremely fresh, locally sourced and elegantly prepared. Service is impeccable. Catering is also available for weddings or other private parties -- this is food cooked for banquets,...
