The food is great, but the atmosphere and owners are the best! Kind, helpful, generous and fun. Perfect for a quiet couples meal, to meet friends after work and watch your favorite sports team, or sit down with the family...this place has it all!

Restaurant is "dirty" looking. Food is so-so. Bar and restaurant is dark and dull. Wait staff very aloof. Owner seems very nice, helps local charities, but all in all not great

Staff is very friendly and efficient, menu is diverse with several options available from sandwiches, soups, salads, steak and more . Their lobster rolls and clam chowder are a must to try. Both are mouth watering. It's always a lively time at the 401 Tavern!

Stopped in for lunch on a Friday. Kind of a rambling funky place with several rooms. We sat in the lounge. Dated, worn furnishings. Impressive bar. Pictures of patrons all over the walls. No blank space in this place. Obviously has loyal regulars, during our lunch several people came in to greetings of "How ya doing Bob?" or "What's going... More

Very laid back and casual atmosphere. We started with the tapas meatballs and potstickers. My wife did not think the meatballs were very flavorful but I enjoyed them personally. The potstickers were very good and the dipping sauce had a little heat that hits right away and then dissipates quickly, we both enjoyed them. My wife had the French onion... More

classic rambling house with loads of interesting signage on the wall; comfortable, homey, good food, good selection of beers. Would definitely go back.

We tried the early bird special when it was not too crowded. The waitress was friendly. This is a very good deal for the amount of food you get. I had the onion soup, beef tips with potatoes and asparagus, plus apple pie. The beef tips were delicious and the apple pie was wonderful. My husband had a salad, crab... More

We had a large group on NEW Years Eve. The restaurant was jumping and quite busy. Service was very good and folks had all kinds of food from Steak salads, burgers, fish and prime rib.The ambience was fun and the food was good for such a busy night. Folks in the restaurant were very friendly. We will come back on... More

I had the Mediterranean Quinoa Salad for lunch and requested chicken be added for this take out meal. The Salad and dressing were both tasty and enjoyable. The portion size was good. I'd order it again. However the Salad came with (4) small, rubbery, tasteless pieces of chicken which I added to the order. The cost of the base Salad... More

I recently stopped in for a beer and dinner and thought that it has the potential to be better. They do have a good feel inside whether you are looking to catch a game or catch up with friends. They also have a good selection of beer to choose from. We had ordered the meatballs for an appetizer and they... More
