This was our second visit to Jumpin Jays, first visit was in 2015. It's hard to judge a restaurant on Valentine's Day, but they weren't doing anything special, it was the regular menu. The kitchen seemed to get in the weeds, we waited 40 minutes between starter course and main course. No apologies either, and no one checked on us,... More

Great service and cosy ambience. Oysters and catch of the day are a good default option when I can't decide on what to eat.

we ate here in November of 2016 and in February of 2017 and had 2 different experiences. Pros: on both occasions wait staff were attentive and helpful. The experience in November was wonderful; quiet table, excellent food, good value for the money (although limited choices for restaurant week). Cons: the February experience was very not good; waited in the bar... More

Pricey but excellent food. Three of us shared mussels...unusual and good (spicy) dipping sauce. Wines extensive and waiter knowledgeable and really nice. Seafood pasta dish very good, as was haddock and crab cake. Definitely will return. Oh...don't miss the restrooms. Unique backlighted aluminum fish "swimming" on the wall. Way cool.

Ate here with a coworker and 6 of our customers while in town on a business trip. I had the haddock and it was excellent. Others in the party had monkfish, tuna, and oysters, and all were met with a positive response. Had the calamari as an appetizer, probably the best calamari I've ever had. The highlight of the evening... More

My wife and I, usually with friends and other members of our family, eat at Jumpin' Jay's at least five to six times per year. Our experience has always been good. The menu items that are simple preparations of fresh fish the chef takes care to procure are always excellent. The more complex dishes -- e.g., fresh fish in combination... More

The food is terrific, the wait staff is terrific, and you need a reservation! It is a bit pricey but you won't be disappointed. The menu is varied and the specials are always that -Special! Not only are the wat staff knowledgeable about the menu but they know their wines!

Very nice. The food was very good as well as the service. We were in Portsmouth for an overnight and the hotel suggested the restaurant. Would definitely return when in the area.

We went to Jumpin' Jay's for my birthday and the desire to have some really good halibut, one of our favorites! The wait staff person was excellent, but the halibut was a disappointment. It was dry, (to me, overcooked,) so thank goodness it came with sauce. This is not our first time at the restaurant, and the fish has always... More
