Thanksgiving for 10 people. Mid-range buffet, a little costly and have had much better and much worse buffet meals. Usually cook myself, but, wife recently ill and prep for ten is a bit much when down. Would not return.

Went here for Valentines day nice touch of fresh flowers on all the tables , wasnt haunted the night i went but you can read about this place.Service was good and all the staff were very nice and professional.A kind of step back in time place. It is BYOB so that was nice also.I had the ahi Tuna and my guest had shrimp scampi over quinoa which was very good I had the mango salsa ahi tuna which was fabulous, the blackened tuna bites and lobster bisque were both fantastic.Homemade brownie with ice cream was also very good.

Went there for restaurant week. Roasted artichokes with goat cheese was disappointing..seemed like jarred battered @ fried artichokes in a non goat cheese cream. Chicken roulade entree also disappointing as all components lacked flavor. Would not recommend.

The Grenville In Bay Head was decorated beautifully for the Christmas Holidays….... The Dinner Menu was varied and the prices very reasonable…. Our party of eight ordered different entrees, and each diner enjoyed their choices……The Rack of Lamb, Ahi Tuna, Sea Bass, and Filet Mingon were all excellent! French Onion Soup and the Mediterranean Shrimp Appetizer were delicious… Our Server was also on point with his recommendations! It’s BYOB, so bring your favorite wine and enjoy a wonderful dinner!

Just flat out bad food; very bad. Fish was old and smelly; meat served raw; vegetables over cooked and soggy. Made us feel gross

My fiancé and I, on a beautiful Saturday night, decided to have dinner and sit outside on their porch. We had not been out except for one time as restaurants were opening up from the restrictions from the pandemic. So, being able to score a reservation at The Grenville Restaurant in Bay Head was going to be a treat or so we thought. We met with the hostess and she had a table set on the porch with other patrons and seated us. Our waiter came over right away and asked us for our choices. He was very pleasant. We shared our appetizer and had salad. I had my salad, but my fiancé likes to have his salad with his meal. After finishing my salad and some conversation, we realized that it was already an hour since we saw our waiter, however, as they were busing other tables they tried to pick up my fiancés salad four times. We realized that since we didn't see anyone coming our way with our dinners, I wanted to tell the hostess that we never got our dinners so we thought we would pay for what we ate and leave the waiter a tip, etc. Well, that isn't even close to what happened. I found the hostess and she thought I was leaving for the evening. I looked at here a bit confused and said I wasn't leaving but wanted to tell her we didn't get our dinners yet. She answered "you never got your dinners?" I said no and it's been about an hour since we received our salads. She answered "that's too bad." She didn't offer to see what happened and just looked at me and and said that they take their time with their customers and I answered "oh yes but an hour?" Well, she lost it after that. She said "this is Bay Head and you are going to wait." I was surprised at her answer and she was visibly irritated. She still did not go to see what was going on with our dinners. Still seething from anger, she asked what we had to eat which I let her know, and then she said "you don't have to pay for anything." I said really? I thought that was nice and was going to thank her, but then she said "get out!" I was stunned by her statement. Get out? She said yes, get out! My question should not have prompted a reaction like that. It's a normal question. In the meantime, my fiancé came to the front because I was taking too long to come back to the table. He felt something wrong. He then said to her or started to we are disappointed...she cut him right off and said again "the both of you get out." "This is Bay Head you are going to wait." It got worse after that so we left. I have never been treated so rudely by someone asking about our meals. I have had dinners in the best restaurants in New York City, London, and Italy and no one spoke to me that way. So, I see that if you have dinner in Bay Head you are going to wait considerably because it's Bay Head and while you are waiting you will be rudely treated. I would never recommend this Inn to anyone, but I would let them know how we were treated and how rude they are to their new customers. I hope that no one has the experience my fiancé and I had, but if you ask where your dinner is "beware!"

We went there on a Thursday night. The fireplace was glowing which made the restaurant warm & cozy. We had a coupon for buy one entree and get the second one free. We had the mussels appetizer with wine sauce. It was probably the best mussels I ever had. Our main meals were excellent. Considering it's a BYOB and with the coupon it was bargain. Well worth going there especially during the winter. Highly recommended

August or July in Bay Head, NO try to find a great place to eat. We thought there were two. Well guess what. The Grenville Hotel has a great dinning room and porch with a terrific menu. It's a BYOB restaurant which keeps your check fair and reasonable. Food outstanding, great service, and that old time Bay Head feeling on the porch as people come and go thru the Bay Head corridor.

Wonderful family gathering spot for Sunday brunch. Lots of fresh fruit, salads and a terrific omelette station too. Our servers were very attentive and eager to please even though this was a buffet. Great coffee and juices were included with the very reasonable all-you-can-eat pricing. BYOB is a bonus. Dining out side on the veranda was simply delightful. Come one and come all! Shore to please!

Most recognized and memorable venue in Bay Head that defies everything a restaurant portends to be or should be. Easter Sunday brunch at the Jersey Shore, sunshine and a whiff of the ocean breeze. That pretty much sums up the positives, what’s left barely deserves any mention. Let’s start with the ambiance, decor, style: all absent. The interior has evidently undergone a makeover but the attention to detail would have you believe it was done by amateurs. Zero ambiance and an obvious disaffection for anything that resembles quality and good taste. But we came to eat so let’s start there. Buffet style which any respectable brunch menu includes a variety of choices. Not the case here. Maybe I was put off by the various non matching plates which appeared to be less than clean. Maybe it was the food warmers that were all grimy, unclean and an omen of what they contained. Half of the dishes were unrecognizable despite their labels, most were overdone and visibly unappetizing. The usual salads, cheeses, fruits etc were absent. I opted for the pasta in vodka sauce which I could identify and the raw shrimp. Pasta was good but you had to catch the new batch that was hot otherwise it was warm if at all. The shrimp was nowhere near shrimp cocktail sized and the cocktail sauce was barely passable. Absolute nothing else that our group tried was worth a favorable mention. How can you offer a buffet with no children dishes? How can you have men in street shorts and sneakers delivering the food from the kitchen to replenish the warmers is a sight you don’t associate with a restaurant, maybe a pizzeria. Who runs this place? Yes, the place was pretty full but not oversold and I didn’t perceive anyone as disappointed as we were but then we are all entitled to our own opinions and tastes. As for us, the Grenville will never see us again unless we hear that new ownership is on board and will bring back the Grenville we remember. Until then, even a one star rating is gracious.

My wife and I were the only two diners at this quaint old Victorian mansion one rainy Friday evening. Our meals were perfectly prepared. We enjoyed our rack of lamb and the NY Strip. I would recommend ordering the Roasted Summer Beet salad as well. Our server was efficient, friendly, and attentive, but not overly so. It was a pleasure to dine in a fine, tastefully appointed setting and actually be able to converse in normal tones without straining to hear or shouting over music or the general hub-bub and poor acoustics that other "fine dining" establishments tend to offer. Plan an evening at the Grenville - and relax...

My husband and I went on a Saturday night, just a few tables were filled, granted, it is February, but there are so many restaurants in the area that are filled, the fireplace was lit which made it a charming room . I have wanted to come here for years, just never got around to it. The room is small. The hostess was so very sweet, pleasant and personable. The waiter was fine. We started with a small Caesar salad and not very Caesar-y and was not asked if we want fresh pepper. We also ordered a small grenville salad, supposed to have feta cheese, but none to be found.Big problem for my husband. We shared the clams cataplana and it was good and well seasoned. Enjoyed it. I had the crab cakes and they were just ok. My husband had a shrimp and scallop dish and he said it was good. There was no wow factor in any dish and the room has such a tired look to it. I would not come back.

I had read the many negative reviews and was a little nervous but went anyway for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. Food was good and so was the service. I would go again if I were in the area. It was pretty empty when we went however it was out of season. FYI, the menu mainly has seafood and meat.

We were very disappointed in the thanksgiving buffet. The menu stayed turkey, prime rib and ham carving stations which to me imply that someone is standing there slicing the meat. Instead it was chaffing dishes of these meats. The ham and turkey were ok but the beef was thin sliced, over cooked and tough. I would never call this prime rib. Food was very average and as part of the dessert buffet Oreo cookies were served. I would not recommend the Grenville for a thanksgiving dinner.

Me and my girlfriend had dinner here on a Friday evening. The restaurant seems to be here just for people staying at the hotel. The food is very good, but the place was empty giving it a weird feeling. The place needs to be updated.
