Terrible service, terrible food and boring show. Packed in like sardines. Don't waste the time or money.

Overall (i.e., food, service, décor) Sanai is the best restaurant in the Journal Square area. Located in the Newkirk House, the oldest building still standing in Jersey City (the lower half was built in 1690), Sanai's is named after the daughter of former LA Clipper Terry Dehere, the owner and homegrown star. The restaurant serves excellent "bar food", and the... More

Love this establishment!!! First time here, and was not disappointed! Waitstaff, bar staff, and management run this place the way a great restaurant should run! We were told that since our visit coincided with their "Murder Mystery Dinner", our food would take a bit longer, so at least they gave us a heads up regarding that detail. We sat down,... More

Went to a retirement party in the afternoon and it took hours to get food for 30 people. There was one server and chaos trying to get the food served. When it arrived it was cold and not well prepared. Many unhappy people who will talk about this restaurant for years.

The food is awesome and served fresh and hot!!! The servings are plentiful and the pricde is very reasonable. I enjoy thier salad and seafood sliders while my friend had the beer battered fish and fries. Needless to say he ate them all and enjoyed every bit. I'll be back again

The food is amazing at the atmosphere is friendly and warm. The calamari is hot and given in a great portion. I love thier seafood menu. So fresh you can smell the ocean. It is easy to get to this restaurant as it is located in Jersey City. It was my first time going here but I will be back... More

My husband and I visited Sanai's on a very cold Saturday evening to use an expiring discount coupon. The restaurant is housed in an historic building off of Journal Square. Upon entering the restaurant it became apparent there was no heat on. Other patrons were huddled in coats and scarves. Two young women did an adequate job running the serving... More

Found this restaurant while getting son and his wife settled into new apartment near Journal Square. Calamari appetizer was good, salmon medallions excellent. Nice building provided good atmosphere. Bar area looked inviting. Certainly a place worth revisiting.

My 16 year daughter and I went to a murder mystery dinner at this resturant. The show was great and the food was too. I would go back here for a girls night out event. The servers and hosts were great. The atmosphere was nice.
