We live locally since 2021, and quickly developed a fondness for Red's. The location is perfect, and we have never had a complaint about staff - always polite and helpful. However, we've noticed a subtle decline in dishes each year. This year, something has definitely changed. For example, the fried clam strips we ordered just this week were greasy; the spaghetti and white clam sauce contained very few clams, and tasted like a butter sauce as opposed to a light seafood sauce. The tile fish my wife ordered was far too heavily seasoned for a delicate fish. As a special, it was pricey and I would expect more attention to presenting a quality product. Several weeks ago we had red clam sauce and spaghetti, and it tasted like they simply sauced the pasta with Manhattan clam chowder. We have had a few dishes that we've enjoyed (e.g. fluke), but clearly the consistency across the spectrum of dishes has declined. Red's is a great place, I hope they can get back on track.

We started with 2 orders of the clam special which had 3 spicy & 3 seasoned clams both very tasty. My boyfriend also got 6 clams on the half shell which were good as well. I ordered the crab cake entree & received 2 smaller sized crab cakes served with supposedly chive mashed potatoes that were unrealistically white with maybe 3 tiny pieces of chive with a chemical taste, my thought boxed not fresh made. The mixed vegetable side had half not totally cooked carrots with overcooked squash & broccoli. At $36 for that entree I’d say not worth it, but fortunately the crab cakes were delicious. I did complain about the rest of the dish which I couldn’t eat & the manager took $8 off the bill which I appreciated and said she would taste the sides. My boyfriend had the fish & chips which was a bargain at $20, as he got 4 pieces of perfectly cooked cod with tasty fries. Reservations are suggested, but call vs open table as they may have availability. They are still a byob but now also offer some wines & sangrias. Based on the atmosphere outside it’s a beautiful setting to dine in. I’d like to make this a 4 rating but due to the price point of my dish plus the inedible factor of the sides I have to in good conscience make it a 3.

First time at Red’s Lobster Pot. I was pleasantly surprised. I’m on a sodium restricted diet. I asked for a broiled seafood platter without any added salt, came with FF’s and coleslaw. Came out perfect no extra salt. They have gluten-free, they address all food allergies. We will be back. Thanks Red’s.

Very disappointed with our dining experience. Our waitress, Dina, was unfriendly and unattentive. We ordered their fresh catch sandwich that was supposedly mahi-mahi. I am very doubtful it was mahi, and it it was, it certainly wasn't fresh...frozen maybe. It was mushy and bland, some seasoning would have gone a long way to help this sad nursing home style fish. To make it worse some tartar sauce was slopped on the sandwich, it really should have been on the side, it too was bland and tasteless. Of course this was all served on a big kaiser roll that was only half filled with a tiny piece of fish. 2 sandwiches and 2 beers $56+ an undeserved tip. Never again!

Three years ago I ate here and loved the scallops. When I got back to Texas, I bragged about them to my wife. So when we came up the next year, my wife and I were disappointed when we ate there. I had noticed the quality slipping. I came up here 3 weeks ago and tried them again. I ordered one of my favorite all time dishes, a lobster roll. The roll was packed with lobster meat. However, the lobster had very little flavor and was so chewy that I was cleaning lobster out of my teeth for the rest of the day. My friend had ordered the scallops but was disappointed with their size and chewiness. There are two reasons for this, either the lobster and scallops were overcooked or they were not fresh as advertised. When I told the waitress of our problem, she said that she would tell the cooks but no compensation was offered nor did the owner or cooks talked to us. This seems to be a trend in Point Pleasant seafood restaurants. I get fresher seafood in a Mexican restaurant here in Texas than supposedly fresh seafood on the coast in N.J. Not to mention the price is half as much

Hands down the best lobster roll I’ve ever had! The meat was tender not chewy and it wasn’t drowned in butter to where the roll is wet and soggy. My son had the fish and chips which was also delicious and the portions were great!I had a lobster roll at a roof top restaurant on the beach and it was nowhere near as good. Can’t wait to go again!

Be prepared to wait. It''s had the special Lobster Bisque. It was very good. Also had a few cocktails. If you like basil and gin get the Gin Basil Smash. Another favorite was the Pain Killer. I had the stuffed shrimp and enjoyed it immensly. My husband had the shrimp and scallop broiled seafood platter - he said it was, "Meh...." - he liked mine much better.

We've been devotees of Red's since it first opened 30 years ago. Sadly, the physical structure remains and the setting is superb, but the creative whiteboard cuisine is absent. I used to bemoan Red's annual fall closing as I was addicted to their best on the Jersey Shore crab cakes. Those we were served last night lacked the consistency I had come to expect with more filler and a bland taste. Service was not up to the high standards that made Red's our first choice for seafood at the Jersey Shore.

This is about as old school, fresh fish Jersey shore as you can get. The fish comes right off the boat, the beer is cold, the quantities are plentiful and the price is right. No frills but who needs them with all the above! Seasonally open and a great place to bring the family!

Trying to get in as many visits before they close for the season next week! Mussels in medium spiced sauce were absolutely perfect. Also totally enjoyed blackened scallops, lobster roll, sangria and Caesar salad. In the past have had calamari, pasta seafood specials and clams. Wish they stayed open longer! Always too full for desserts so can’t review them. Service is great as well.

I have been a long time customer of Reds Lobster Pot. I prefer the menu available at their indoor dining area. So, with indoor dining not available in New Jersey during COVID-19, I was concerned that I might not be able to eat at my favorite restaurant this summer. But, Reds Lobster Pot has not let me down. They moved their indoor dining menu outdoors and are offering the same high quality food and excellent service in a very comfortable outdoor environment. From a COVID-19 perspective, I felt very comfortable dining here as the tables were properly spaced and cleaned after each use and the staff all wore masks and gloves. Most of all, the chef continues to invent wonderfully flavorful and creative specials (we loved this week's fluke milanese and swordfish with a cream corn sauce) every week to keep us coming back. Even on a 90 degree day, we sat outside under an umbrella with a cool breeze coming off of the water and enjoyed the best seafood available on the Jersey Shore.

Went there with Mrs for dinner and sat outside with nice view of bay. Although food was tasty, the lobster bisque, only thing we both had, gave us both severe stomach pain and all that goes with that. Not a good experience!

Admittedly, prior to today I had only had lobster rolls from boardwalk vendors, but this place blew me away with the upscale quality of the lobster, along with great fries and superb slaw.
Being alone, I had lots of time to observe the staff, who all acted with friendliness, courtesy, quick teamwork, and professionalism.
On top of that, there's a great over-the-water view of the inlet with all the boats and jet-skiers, etc. Who could ask for more?

Red's Lobster Pot recently opened for the season and we were there on its first day. It happened to be Cinco de Mayo; so, tacos were on the list of specials. Their deep fried cod tacos are one of my favorites - perfectly cooked, crispy, cod topped with pickled onions and served in a fresh tortilla wrap - it just doesn't get better than that. And, we saved room for a slice of the coconut cream pie - one of the best desserts anywhere. Before leaving the table, we made another reservation for next week. Can't wait to return !

Over the past two months we've had excellent meals at Reds Lobster Pot. Although I try to avoid shore eateries during peak season, Red's offers reservations so we took a chance. We were seated at a lovely outdoor table and the service was prompt...until the main course. We waited one hour for our meals to arrive while other tables..who arrived later...were being served. We ordered one of the specials and two meals from the menu..no extra requests. Our server promised that our food would be right out..after 20 more minutes I had lost hope.
The food finally arrived and it was just ok...not the same level of quality we had experienced a month before.
It will be a while before we go back..if ever. For $140 for 3 people..no alcohol.. I expect a WOW.
