We have been to the Shrimp Box on at least three occasions. It is a destination location, as we live 90 minutes away.
The various sea food offerings are always fresh and delicious. From the stuffed flounder with crabmeat, to the excellent scallops and jumbo shrimp, you will find a dinner to enjoy. The NE clam chowder is special. The Shrimp Box offers a Sunset Dinner promotion, every day between noon and 5.00PM. Most of the regular menu items are offered and the prices are amazing. The value cannot be matched. Top off the dinner with the included dessert and beverage choice. Forgot to mention the view on the water and an excellent wait staff.
This place is a must!

Great dining experience and seafood today. It was also a great value since we were able to order off of their "Sunset Menu" (earlybird), available until 5 PM. But, since we skipped lunch we ate an early dinner on this hot Monday @ 4 PM with no wait & with a nice view of the harbor. When we left they we're waiting to get in. The pricing included soup or salad, entre, beverage bread and desert . But, the fresh seafood is superb, scallops,shrimp and flounder broiled.

Friend and I went on a weekday before 5pm - they have a great special deal 12-5pm on weekdays. The price of the entree (if I recall, it is a limited menu yet nice offerings and we were able to tweak our order) includes: salad, beverage (non-alcoholic), entree and dessert for the price of the entree. Very nice service, waitress was great and we didn’t wait long to get served. Decor is nautical so nice right on the water there. NOTE: The “special” which I refer to is not available outdoors on their patio. Definitely worth the trip!

Beyond amazing! Seated by the water. Cool breeze. Server recommended Flounder Milanese as I could not decide between Stuffed shrimp, Cod or flounder. Delicious. Light. My husband ordered stuffed flounder. Also delicious! Bloody Mary’s perfectly spiced.

We arrived around 6:30 on Saturday night and to our surprise, were seated immediately in a great table looking out over the water, docks and boats. Having been an on-off customer over the years, I was truly amazed at how much better everything seemed. My Sister & partner from NC were visiting and wanted to have some good local seafood. We ordered softcrabs(2 in the order, which she & I shared ). They were lightly battered and fried to a golden crisp, and were absolutely delicious , good size, and with the side salad, fries and cole slaw, we had more than enough to share. Her partner ordered a "fried trio" and even with a good appetite, was unable to finish the 5 scallops, 5 shrimp and 3 pieces of flounder, along with the same accompaniments We left very satisfied, and the service was also great !!! I will return soon.

I met some clients here for lunch based on a recommendation I heard from a friend. Unfortunately I was very underwhelmed. We started with an appetizer special “Bang Bang Shrimp” which was flavorless and the shrimp was tough and overcooked. I was excited to try the Pretzel Crusted Calamari but this too fell flat as we didn’t taste any pretzel. For my entree I order the Summer Salad with Tuna. The salad was just basic and nothing I couldn’t prefer myself at home. All in all, quite disappointing and I would not return.

The Shrimp Box is one of our favorites. The view is absolutely amazing, the staff are so nice and the food yummy. We had gone to celebrate my birthday and it didn’t disappoint. My husband had steamers and theMahi Mahi tacos and I had coconut shrimp appetizer and a crab cake sandwich all of which we enjoyed.

We thought we’d try the Shrimp Box tonight and OMG WOW! We had the mussels in a tomato base and broiled seafood platter and everything was fantastic. Plentiful portions, fast service, a a sunset watching fishing boats come in added to the ambiance of the restaurant! Thank u Shrimp Box!

I went to this place because a local relative recommended it. I was not impressed. The scallops were overcooked, small, and sandy. The shrimp was a bit overcooked. The flounder, lobster bisque (more on this below), and clam chowder were good. Had I not had fresh fish at another restaurant before this one I wouldn't have known that there was MUCH better lobster bisque elsewhere. The butter brought out for the bread was ice cold so all it did was tear it up. The wine I chose was awful and I didn't finish it. I had never had a bad Argentinian wine until this visit.
The restaurant itself was charming and there was lots of parking. The view out the windows was quite nice. We didn't have a reservation but we were seated at a booth near the window right away (it is off-season after all).
I don't think I'd go back though as there is much better elsewhere.

It’s a mystery why this place is so popular. They don’t take reservations for parties of 4 or less, which means that on a summer day you’ll have to wait at least 45 minutes. The bartenders at the patio bar are grossly incompetent and pour bland overpriced drinks to those patient enough to watch them faff around for 20 minutes. The gigantic dining room is obsolete, unappealing, noisy, and understaffed. When we finally sdaEven the shrimp are average or below average! You could buy the same frozen seafood at the supermarket for much less money, because on top of everything else, most portions are small and overpriced.

If you are looking for a local fish shack, this has more of a red lobster vibe inside. We went on a recommendation but found it to be geared more toward an older crowd. It is on the water, which was nice. The restaurant was clean and the waitstaff was friendly and accommodating. Oysters were great. Chowders were good. Our fish dinners were just average, but the price was good and included drink and dessert. Just an ok spot, no real complaints, but probably wouldn't return.

Server Dolores, recommended Pan seared scallops (fresh off the boat) over sautéed spinach for me & pretzel calamari for husband. Lovely water view, attentive service, delicious food. Highly recommend!

My husband and I spent our vacation at the Jersey Shore and we were told by the hotel staff the shrimp box was the place to go for fresh fish, so we decided to try this place - big mistake! We both ordered the broiled trio, sounded great. The service was horrible, never received bread, salad was simply lettuce (no tomatoes, cucumbers, etc.), no refills on our iced tea and dinner took way longer than norm. When we finally received our dinner the flounder was so over cooked it was mush, the scallops were tasteless, and the shrimp weren't cleaned and de-veined. Clearly, I didn't eat the shrimp but since I was hungry I ate the flounder and scallops. I was so sick that night and the next day. The fish was clearly frozen and we paid top dollar for fresh fish. We would have had a better seafood dinner at Red Lobster. You would expect fresh seafood when the restaurant is a block from the ocean, very very disappointed!!

Our group of 5 went for dinner and everyone’s food was delicious. Our waitress, Tina, was fantastic - she gave great food recommendations and great service. We ordered the stuffed flounder, shrimp scampi, soft shell crab, Mediterranean chicken, and tuna steak, and we were all very pleased with our meals. The restaurant is a little loud, which we didn’t mind. Highly recommend!!

This place had come highly recommended by our Airbnb host and we were so looking forward to good, fresh seafood. Ordered the Fried Trio (fish, shrimp, scallops). Asked what kind of rice came with it and was told “wild rice”. The rice was simple yellow rice with peas. The seafood was in a typical cornmeal type batter that really made me think it was just frozen - fish was dry and scallops and shrimp were not fresh. The vegetables definitely came from a frozen bag. I normally don’t leave bad reviews unless they really deserve it and this did. The staff was very friendly and the outside seating lovely. We just wish the food had been.
