I came back to New Jersey after 6 years for a family visit at Thanksgiving. Well of course I had to go the Galloping Hill Inn to have a couple of the HOT DOGS that I loved from years past. I had one sweet works and the other was a chilli dog with mustard and onions. I'm not sure why... More

We moved into the area and happened to see the restaurant was busy on a summer day so we Decided to try it. We never ordered the famous hot dogs . Most of our choices had been pretty good. Recently we tried the famous hot dog. It was not worth it. The bread was overpowering and the hot dog had... More

We have been coming here for years, haven't been in a while, they used to use a substantial torpedo roll to hold up to the large dog and the toppings, they switched to an oversized regular bun witch is completely soggy and mushy halfway through. What a shame. Cut back on quality you lose customers.

I wanted a hot dog with everything. The roll and toppings so overpowered the frankfurter that I could not taste it. A bit disappointed but will give them another another chance. Its quite popular - so there must be a redeeming feature.

I have been going to the GHG, aka. Peterson's for over fifty years back when the hotdogs were forty-five cents. I moved away from Cranford in 1977 but every time I returned over the years, I always made a point of returning for "two with the works" and a Birch beer. Always the same order. I did the same on... This hot dog and burger place has been an iconic "hot dog place" for a very long time- The hot dogs and rolls and burger s and fries and onion rings were always the absolute best- different and excellent in an un-explainable way- The place has changed ownership a half dozen times at least in the past 40 years. A... More

Ordered a hot dog and a Philly cheese steak. Hot dog roll was 3 times the size of the hot dog (guess for putting onions and chili on...I just wanted sauerkraut)…the roll was stale. The Philly cheese steak had so little steak, that even after moving half of it to one side of the roll…it was still not enough for... More

In my opinion, they have tried to be too big, expanded their menu with Gyro's & pizza etc.and they aren't concentrating on what they do best, hot dogs! The rolls for the hot dogs are often stale. The roll used to be really good several years back, not sure what they did, but it's not the same. not even close.... More

My wife & I lived in the area for over 30 years before moving to Arizona. Peterson's as it was called a long time ago was the place to get a great hot dog, and that's what we looked forward to having on this visit. But I'd have to agree with NewJerseyFred ....... definitely NOT like the good old days.... More

I have been going here for over 40 years. Last time here was about four years ago and except for the atmosphere it was consistently good. Todays visit found the food has taken a huge downturn. Much cheaper hot dog on a way to bready and almost stale roll. Fry's not fully cooked, cool and raw in the inside. The... More
