A great place to have a breakfast, brunch, lunch or just drinks! A lovely deck outside overlooking amazing gardens with the beautiful backdrop of the mountains. To quote from their website: "Our menu is inspired by the French and Italians, famous for their fantastic rustic dishes. We use fresh, simple and seasonal ingredients available within a 50-km radius of the... More

Restaurant is within the grounds of Lourensford wine farm gardens with attractive flower beds, lawned areas and ponds. The menu has an Italian feel but with other options including 'light bites'.Our choices were risotto and a creamy pasta, mushroom and crispy pancetta and both dishes were excellent.Service could have been a touch sharper and the wine list was restricted but overall a good... Really beautiful setting. Simple but satisfying menu. Service unfriendly and poor. Had to continually call the waiter to orders drink, ice and food and seemed irritated when we asked again. Brought a beer without opening it and then disappeared. Pork belly was good, risotto very salty. Will not visit again.

I met my husband here before we got married so this place holds a special place in my heart! I had the grilled beef fillet with mushroom sauce! The steak was tender but cold inside and the mushroom sauce arrived late. The waiter was exceptional! But..... it was worth the wait!!! The sauce heated up the fillet and everything was... More

Sunday is also Laurensford Market day so booking is essential and there were several big parties and some noisy infants. Despite this, the service was good and the various dishes ( kingklip, springbok ) were good, if not over-generous sized portions. On a sunny day, the outside sitting area, overlooking the lovely gardens, was ideal.

After a gallery exhibit at Lourensford estate, we stumbled across Millhouse. What a find! Leigh-Ann, our attentive waitron, recommended a few delicious dishes. The prawn risotto was my meal, and what a genius move to mix dark chocolate with risotto, prawns and pineapple. It sounds like it wouldn't work, but was absolutely revolutionary. We will certainly be back. I would... More

Description
Founded in 1700, Lourensford Estate has married its historic heritage with a vision to be at the forefront of modern wine technology and a leader amongst South African Wine producers.

Owner & Executive Chef, Bjorn Guido's cooking career started at The Greenhouse at Cellars-Hohenort under chef Peter Templehoff. He then moved abroad and joined Babington House, part of the SOHO HOUSE group under the renowned Ronnie Bonetti of River Cafe London. After gaining experience abroad, he returned home and took up the role of Head Chef at The Franschhoek Kitchen on the Holden Manz Wine Estate.

Food provenance and sustainability are core to Millhouse's philosophy. The eatery's contemporary barn-conversion interior puts a modern twist on classic elements, featuring a mix of leather banquette seating and reclaimed timber walls. Bjorn's aim was to create a neighbourhood feel where guests can relax and enjoy each other's company. Watch as food is prepared in the expansive open kitchen and Italian style pizza's are delivered fresh from the wood fired oven.
