This restaurant is what I love about small towns. The food was great and they have fresh cut fries and hand made burgers. The green Chile cheese fries were delicious. We had three green Chile cheeseburgers... Light out! Definitely worth checking out in the middle of nowhere.

The best tiny village culinary excursion that is only 2 minutes off I-25 -- but worlds away and a trip back in time. A MUST STOP if you are headed south to Cruces or north to ABQ on the freeway. Get the green chile cheeseburger and treat yourself to the chile cheese onion rings. I stop anytime I'm nearby and... More

We decided to give this place a shot after hearing about it for years. The atmosphere was retro bar, dimly lit, clean. The staff was extremely busy and still polite. The green chili cheese burger was not bad, but it was also not spectacular. Hatch, NM had several places with way better. Blake's Lotaburger it's even better. We also had... More

Not many choices in restaurants or on the menu unless you like grease. We stopped because we were pulling our car with RV and there was space. My husband was dying for a good burger. He had their famous chili cheese and I opted for patty melt. I'm paying for it 30 minutes later. Husband was happy.

I bragged to my teenage daughter about this place having the best green chile cheeseburgers anywhere. When we arrived she said, "Really mom? This place looks sketchy. Can I just wait in the car?" No. We went inside and I was transported back in time 40 years to when I was a student at New Mexico Tech and ate here... More

Two excellent burger places almost in front of each other in the tiny town of San Antonio. Burger is smaller and cheaper in this place, still is very good. Better fries than the Buckhorn. Avoid the chile and bean soup.

Really nice, unpretentious restaurant and bar in the village of San Antonio, about 10 miles south of Socorro, NM. Has a history related to the Manhattan Project - posted in each booth. Really, really good green chile cheeseburger!!

It's hard to say who has the better burger--Owl or Buckhorn. But I have to vote for the Owl. We make it a point to stop anytime we are in San Antonio. It's a great place, too--wonderful old bar that is well stocked. My husband always gets a couple of burgers, but I'm a Green Chile Cheese burger fan. The... More

I wish I'd read the other reviews before we decided to eat here. Like others experienced, our burgers were on saucers, our silverware was plastic and the bathrooms were in desperate need of updating and cleaning. I must have miscommunicated with the server regarding my change and I ended up over-tipping because my change was never returned. She seemed pleasant... More

I was curious about this place which I had heard so much about. I went in for lunch after visiting nearby Apache del Bosque Wildlife Refuge. My server "greeted" me while chewing food. I ordered the Green Chili Burger with Cheese and Fries. The burger arrived on a saucer--I wanted to take off some of the garnish but didn't have... More
