This was a very lucky find for my son and me because Socorro, New Mexico has some of the worst restaurants you can imagine. Armijo's, however, has excellent Mexican food which is very reasonably priced and the service is quick and efficient.

As an Arizonan, I'm accustomed to some amazing Mexican food. Being in NM I was on the look out for some good hearty home made green chile, as green chiles are grown in the state. I ordered the green chile enchiladas and was disappointed in the green sauce. It was like water with chunks of chiles in it... my cheese... More

I ate dinner at Armijo’s twice while on a recent business trip to Socorro. Armijo’s is on the south end of town, away from most of the other restaurants in Socorro. The first time I ate here I had the flat enchilada plate with carne adovada and red chile. The beans were really good, but I thought the rice was... More

Not your typical tex-mex food. More traditional. We had the chicken enchiladas which were fabulous. The tamales were pretty good but the tacos were not very tasty. My husband ate his but I didn't. Meals come with chips, beans and rice. Lots of food so come hungry. The meal also comes with sopapillas which were more like Indian fry bread.... More

We wanted a to-go box to help take home half of our chalupa plate and the signature dish -- the taco burger. The latter consisted of a hamburger patty and a slice of cheese in a tortilla. We couldn't quite see what the fuss was, but it was tasty. The chalupas were mounded high with lettuce and tomato. There's a... More

I went to Armijo's yesterday for the Platos Grande. It was very tasty, sort of a chicken stir-fry. Not real carb friendly as it comes with rice and chips. But it makes two meals for one person. I have a pretty big appetite and yet I could've shared! Emma greets you. She is a sweetie.

We had just completed a Pottery hunt in Socorro and we need gas. We fueled the car and I asked the clerk what they thought of Armijo's Mexican Restaurant just up the street. She exclaimed, "I like it." We were hungry so we took her at her word and stopped at Armijo's Mexican Restaurant for lunch. We entered the restaurant... More

Single waitress/bus person/cashier worked hard on her 7 tables. But pretty fast anyway. Food was okay--some would say too spicy hot. All beef items were hamburger. We 2 had burritos and enchiladas. Neither memorable nor bad. Maybe the most average Mexican food on earth.

Anyone who has the opportunity to eat at this restaurant has got to try the taco burgers. You will never eat anything like it in your life.
