Stopped by while enroute to El Paso TX. Its a nice cozy spot. I ordered the tacos and they were ok nothing that spectacular. You get 4 tacos, rice and beans for 8.99 rice was over cooked you can see the stickiness, beans were ok but flavorless then again in this small town that's probably the best you going to... More

It looks like Vaughn is a hamlet on life support, but Penny's seems to be living well despite the vagaries of its dubious location. Way in the boondocks and a rough boondocks as well, Penny's is a shiny diner with pleasant staff and good food as well. Disregard the sign advertising possum... it's a joke even though the situation might... More

Old fashioned (updated) shiny diner with a few booths/tables and counter/stools. A menu you would expect in a small town diner. Daily specials, blue plate type and the usual sandwiches, burgers etc. Food was good, service was good. There is outdoor dining, weather permitting. Reasonably priced. Parking in the back for trucks, buses and RVs.

Service was good. Food was good and quickly prepared. Usual diner fare. I had chicken fried steak. hubby had cheeseburger and onion rings. Plenty of food, and nice atmosphere. We always stop when traveling to AND from Alburquerque.

Yucky food, but was the only option in Vaughn. Ordered a hamburger w mushrooms and it came on 2 pieces of white Wonder Bread with mushrooms out of a can :( We also tried the nachos; they were bad too. Were not given any silver ware or napkins. Had to help myself to some paper towels from the counter. 90%... More

This was the only place to eat for miles around, but don't let that keep you from stopping. We had the Cheese Burger Basket. It was a bargain for $5.99; burger, plenty of fries, and a drink and they are open 24/7! We were a little nervous passing through the town as many building were closed. However, the diner was... My boys and I were headed down from Colorado Springs, CO to Carlsbad, NM and they were starting to get hungry. Being out in the middle of New Mexico, I had a feeling finding something was going to be a challenge. I was more than pleasantly surprised to see Penny's as we came into town. We arrived during the middle... More

This restaurant is NO Where---there are only a couple of buildings and no town but the diner was excellent. Big surprise. We had sandwiches and they were filling and well prepared. Service was good. If you are ever in this area, don't miss this interesting place.

Stopped and ate about 2P on a Sunday on our way through NM. Good enchiladas, all day breakfast was helpful for kids/vegetarians. Would stop in again if we were nearby.

My husband and I were traveling with our young children and stopped in at Penny's for what we hoped would be a quick stop. We waited an hour for our food. Our waitress was friendly and did bring us our drink order fairly quickly , and the food was good when it was finally delivered. However one staff member (who... More
