I think The Heights is consistently the best restaurant in Ithaca. While I certainly favor particular dishes at other Ithaca restaurants, I think The Heights has the consistency across its whole menu that is lacking at other places. We like the bar menu (slightly smaller portions and a number of appetizers that can be cobbled together to make a dinner... More

Overall we were quite happy with our experience at The Heights. We sat at a bar table with another couple so I can't speak to the dining room menu and experience, but we will certainly be back. We arrived at around 5:30 on a Thursday evening and there might have been one other occupied table in the entire restaurant. It... More

Above all restaurants in Ithaca, The Heights has the best food. The portions are gracious and the food is absolutely delicious. However, it is not the food that keeps us coming back, it is the impeccable service and care Chef James expresses toward each diner. For any occasion, The Heights is the place to eat. Can't wait to be back... More

I came here with my husband for a special dinner, I've also had their catering for a few events. I've found their food to be creative and yummy, but I feel like lots of items on their menu are just off (why ruin creme brulee by making it with citrus, why add walnuts to roasted cauliflower)? That said, this is... More

I return to the Heights so often that I can't count the number of times I have dined here. The last time was a luncheon with friends, about a month ago. I ordered a roasted vegetable salad that was simply excellent. The dishes my friends ordered were equally delicious. I have traveled the world and I have dined in wonderful... More

We went to the Heights because it was conveniently located and we just wanted to eat. Wow! They offered so much more. The food was delicious, but beyond that.... the waitstaff was out of this world! They were attentive and unobtrusive at the same time. A fantastic experience.

I ordered the Centro Pizza with a caesar salad, cup of soup, wine and hot tea with the bill, under $35. The dinner was very good and the food was tasty. Wasn't sure what to expect from this restaurant but pleasantly surprised!

We went to the Heights for a birthday dinner. The restaurant decor and ambience is lovely and a good fit for celebrating a special occasion. The wait staff was friendly and attentive and everyone was genuinely nice. Everything we ordered was very good. The Heights also has good selection of wines. Our dinner was a fantastic experience!

The great accomplishment of this restaurant is to take standard fare such as steak or salmon, locate the best of its kind--the wildest, freshest salmon; the tenderest, juiciest steak--cook it perfectly, and then accompany it with a surprising group of vegetables and garnishes so nicely imagined that the dish becomes entirely new and entirely delicious. Some of the interesting accompaniments... More

I had dinner with 5 Cornell professors. The restaurant was full but still quiet enough for conversation. Service was OK, but the waitress gave us little help with choices of food or wine. They have a large wine list. My burrata puttanesca appetizer had tasty mozzarella but the dish was too salty. The swordfish was tasty and not dry. The... More

Description
The Heights Restaurant and H Bar was established in 1995 by Culinary Institute of America graduate James Larounis and his wife Heidi. We are located in the Village of Cayuga Heights, one mile from the center of Cornell University. The restaurant has a casual, contemporary atmosphere and features Mediterranean-inspired American cuisine. We place the utmost value on our seasonal menus and on sourcing locally. We also take great pride in our wine list which includes over 400 bottle selections from the United States and international regions, and over 20 wines by the glass. The Heights Restaurant and H Bar has been a Wine Spectator award winner since 1999.
