Wonderful place to stay if you want to experience beautiful views of the Nile, excellent food and service, the delight of watching monkeys and wildlife, whilst in the comfort of a banda or tent with en-suite facilities. Friendly family atmosphere, with personal care taken to ensure the best for us.

Had a very nice stay in the black lantern for a number of nights. The scenery from the restaurant and rooms is amazing. Monkeys and birds are in the trees. Great way to do some luxury camping. The food is very good, and the ribs are my favourite. Staff are very friendly and relaxed, and the manager was very friendly... More

I went to the Black Lantern to celebrate a friend's birthday this weekend. You have never tasted ribs like theirs! They were so tender, the meat fell off the bone and they were slathered with the most delicious sauce. I accidentally ordered the full rack and had to share, so bring an appetite! On top of that the staff were... More

The owner was wonderful. Very engaging and friendly. The food was delicious! We tried the ribs and were not disappointed. Perfect place for a sunset dinner of the Nile complete with monkeys swinging from the trees.

Black lantern is famous for their pork ribs and rightly so. A rack of these will easily feed 3 ladies. The place is little out of town , accessed on a dusty road, but the trip is worth it. The place is cozy and full of life. Service was good.

The food did not disappoint, we stayed the day at the pool therefore had both lunch and dinner. The special of the day, chicken fajitas, were well spiced and abundant, the crudites (raw vegetables), on the other hand, although nice, the babaganoush was bitter, probably they burnt the eggplant. At dinner the tilapia fillets in banana leaves were a relish... More

Heard so many good things about this place, and the location is amazing, but rubbish service. So slow I could have died of hunger before my food arrived. Also, there is almost nothing on the menu for vegetarians. While we waited well over an hour for our food, we got eaten alive by mosquitoes. And expensive too. Very disappointing.

Nice guy in charge of it, and good atmosphere but pricey and sadly lacks a view of the nile as is over grown with trees which is a massive shame otherwise would be a great venue.

We came here for lunch on the recommendation and the good reviews posted already. The rest of my family ordered the ribs and they were really good. The potato wedges that come with them were very really good too. However my rib roll was terrible. There was no meat on ribs in the bun. It was as if they cut... More
