Very unassuming from the outside. We discovered this place accidentally. Space attempts to create the feel of a mountain lodge. We shared the fried sheep cheese as appetizers and this was just delicious! You choose how you want your potatoes.. we opted for french fries which comes with mayonnaise. I had the roasted pork that comes in a brown sauce... More

You know you have found the real deal when fellow diners are conversing in Slovak. And, that's what we found at Koliba. Nice atmosphere, good service. Good prices for excellent food. While I opted for lighter fare...albeit a strange combination...garlic soup, garden salad and red beets (so good!), my dinner companions opted for spaetzle with cheese and bacon and spaetzle... I have to say if you are looking for a great place to eat and you want to eat traditional Slovak or Czeck food you have to go to Koliba. Every time I'm in NYC I have to go and eat there. Portions are big and food taste like I was in Slovakia. I've been going there for last 12... More

Koliba isn't a long way from Midtown Manhattan, but it feels like you've gone to Eastern Europe, as well as Queen's. From the decor to the patrons, as well of course, to the beer and food, this is an authentic gastronomic excursion. No light, fusion cuisine here, come for the experience, and the ride.

Would definitely return. All the classic dishes are on the menu, and the presentation is exactly like you would see in CZR or SK. Well prepared entrees. Great soups. Crisp beer pours. Service is good, decor is super cozy "cottage" style, true to the name. It's like being transported.

Very good Czech food with fresh dumplings and Czech beers on tap. I had dinner with two guys from the Czech Republic and they loved the beers and the cuisine choices. I had the beef ghoulash, since I have not had this in some time, and it tasted even better than I remember it ever tasting. It was a great... More

"Koliba" means Shepherd's hut, so if you are looking for something shiny, sparkly, ... no, it's not place for you ;-) But when you are looking for authentic atmosphere and delicious national dish - this is place for you. When you want to go there on Saturday or Sunday, don't forget to make reservation.

A good introduction to Czech food food, I am glae to read from other reviews that this is the real thing... God willing I will have more when I visit Prague at the second part of this year. I had this with a Pilsner Urquell which is supposed to be the oldest lager beer brand in the world.
