I've been to El Tio several times, for lunch. The food there seems to vary, better than average sometimes, but only average at other times (maybe they have several chefs?). They seem to aspire to be a upscale, it is slightly more fancy than the average American-Mexican restaurant. Prices may be a little above local average; but it's still very... More

food is average. they give free chips and salsa which is nice. I always go for the blue margaritas which are good. its located across from the movie theaters, fun zone, applebees, the gym, sports authority, buffalo wild wings. parking on the street no parking lot. prices are average not too much. nothing fancy.

The restaurant was quiet on a cold mid-week evening, but the food was great and the cocktails are good as well. I had the Chili Relleno with mole and it was excellent, I would surely order this again, but also look forward to trying other dishes. The service was friendly and prompt, and the décor is comfortable.

The service here is friendly, but the food is mediocre...didn't have a heck of a lot of flavor, but it was ok. Plus, they don't offer free refills of soda or iced tea (they charge $2.50 each). But what I found to be an abomination was when we got the check. We were only a party of three -- for... More

Convenient location across the street from New Roc. Authentic Mexican. Extensive menu and friendly service. Try the ceviche appetizer. Good mojito. Reasonably priced. Child-friendly

I stayed at the hotel across the street and decided to try this place. It was average at best. The chips and salsa they served was like the Cassadia (sp?). The chips didn't have much to them and the salsa had absolutely no flavor. On top of that the wait staff (2 people) acted as if they could have cared... More

Horrible Service and the food made me sick for like 3 days. Omar the night server decided to charge me over 25% more without my consent, when I wanted to ask him why he did that? He said because my wife didn't tip him a month ago on a $12 dollar charged. When we check the bank account she had... More

I decided to come to El Tio on a whim -- just needed something to eat on a Saturday night and I'm so glad I did. Quick service, plenty of food choices and delicious food. Good portions and reasonably priced. I had the enchiladas suizas (chicken) & they were DELICIOUS! They came with guac, sour cream & salsa...and the combination... More

So I've know, el tio restaurant for about 20 years, they started in Port Chester, back then when the food was good and this restaurant was owner operated, when they opened the New Rochelle restaurant we were happy and we started to visit this restaurant, ever since the beginning the service has been super slow so if you go there...
