We walked down to this divine little taverna for lunch yesterday and could not quite believe how delicious and tender the seafood was - and we are very difficult to please! I can’t understand some of the other reviews other than to say I’m very glad we weren’t put off. We had octopus ( the most tender we can recall eating), gorgeous lightly battered calamari, yummy skordalia ( garlic dip with hot pita bread), the fig salad ( sweet but so good) and a few other dishes. Our neighbours got a range of meat dishes that didn’t look as good to us but we figured it’s silly to order meat at a seafood restaurant on the water. We ended up walking back up the stairs as the boat driver thought sea was too rocky for me on this day as I am heavily pregnant, but this looked great - a small boat that comes back and forth to the other nearby port (free) and only a 10 euro taxi from the port to oia bus station according to the other reviews. Could not recommend enough! Bill came to 75 euros all in incl tax and tip but we ordered way too much food.

Highly recommended restaurant. We were at Ammoudi bay and were looking to go to Armeni bay to climb the stairs there to reach Oia and initially asked the water taxi which offered a rate of 30euro per on way. But when we booked a table at Armeni tavern the owner offered to take us for free, both ways! Once at Armeni bay the owner greeted us with a wide smile and got us a table at beach front at prime time (19:00) The service was super friendly and helpful. The food arrived quickly and was fresh and delicious. And after we found a dish too salty for our taste (mistakes can happen) the owner quickly offered either a refund or to prepare a new dish for us. We was really super nice about it. In the end we even got offered dessert. Overall a great experience and highly recommended, especially if one looks to avoid the overcrowding of Ammoudi bay at sunset time.

Fantastic restaurant right on the shore. Staff were superb. They brought over a tray of the fresh fish and explained what they were and gauged which would be perfect for us. We ate fish / seafood at many restaurants around Santorini and the red mullet at Armeni was my favourite dish of the holiday, so tasty!

Nice setting, bad food, bad service! Ate here for lunch whilst on holiday in Santorini, ordered the seafood pilaf which had no flavour and hardly any seafood in it! When I mentioned it to the waiter he just turned his nose up at me and said it was my problem if I didn’t like it. My boyfriend had the seafood pasta which was also mediocre. I would avoid.

We booked this place because of all the great reviews and was really looking forward to an unforgettable experience. Unfortunately, its was unforgettable for the wrong reason. The staff are friendly but it's location means you're pretty much trapped unless you want to climb the cliff steps. You can get the boat from Armeni to the restaurant but due to the sunset cruises you're stuck till after 9:30pm. The food was rushed. Our vegetables for the main dish arrived while eating our starters and the whole experience felt rushed, even through the restaurant wasn't busy. Food was average, no lobster and monkfish was in a tasteless broth. Sadly, we would not return.

Absolute perfection. The location is epic. There is a boat ride involved, with a wonderful, fun and skilled driver. The waiters all act like owners, the locale is stunningly beautiful and small. The food is absolute perfection. You choose your own fish, they weigh it in front of you, and it is cooked to perfection. The vegetables taste like they were picked in the last 5 minutes and if you go for lunch? You can jump into the Aegean before you go back to the mainland. Dinner was so good that we came back for lunch! It doesn’t get better than this. But make reservations early; they book up fast and don’t just show up or you will be turned away. The place is small.

I didn't realise the steps were so many and steep but it was well worth it when we got there! The fish was freshly caught and well cooked. We also had a lovely salad, warm pitas and a yummy dip along with some tasty wine. Dessert was free which was a bonus and honestly the service cannot be beat. They are SO friendly, chatty and genuine. It was nice to escape the tourist traps in central Oia. The restaurant is small but has a lovely outlook overlooking the beach with beach loungers and chairs on the dock if you so desire. Thank you for an amazing lunch today! It was a great bonus to get a free boat ride to the other port! Highly recommend.

Avoid if you are a family with small children. After walking down all of those steps on a roasting day with three small children, we decided to have a drink and some food at the little restaurant which was pretty much empty. I went to the restaurant first and was offered a table and a menu but as soon as the chubby, bald waiter with glasses realised that i had three children joining me he became so unbelievably rude. So much so that I got up and left after receiving my drinks. I tried to pay for them but he refused. He was obviously feeling bad for being so shamefully rude. What should have been a magical few hours was ruined, the only reason I can think of is that they don’t want children ruining their ‘ambiance’.

Thank you for taking time to share your opinion with us. At Armeni we love to welcome families and we pride ourselves on our excellent service. This can be verified by the hundreds of families visiting our place every year. As we love kids around, we are extra careful when it comes to kids safety (running with wet toes from the sea on a slippery floor). The member of our team tried to explain that politely as always. In any case, we feel great we offered the drinks however we don't feel great with name-calling and personal insults.

We got a the boat from Amoudi Bay to the restaurant. If you book a table with them, they will ask if you need a space on the boat to collect you from the Bay. It was a really fun experience to get to the restaurant on a boat! It was safe and clean and the skipper was friendly. On arrival we were warmly welcomed and seated, at a beautiful restaurant right on the water's edge. It was such a romantic setting. The tzatziki and calamari for starters were lovely! The bread and house white wine wasn't great. However we had Monkfish and Tuna for mains and it was so fresh and yummy! They are known to give you a free dessert after your meal. We hit the jackpot as the free dessert was a Nutella, biscuits, frozen dessert - which was INCREDIBLE! I would have loved to give 5/5 but the bread, wine and mains could have been slightly better. Saying that I would go again just for the boat ride and lovely setting!! Highly recommend.

This is the place where seclusion and privacy meet quality, romance and charm. You want to wow someone? This is the place. On an island of beauty such as Santorini, crowds are the norm but if you want to escape and feel like you have the place to yourself, this is it. First of all, this is Armeni Bay and Not Ammoudi Bay (the more popular area with multiple restaurants) You can hike down to the Armeni restaurant but the trail is not well maintained and it is slippery and your wife might kill you like mine almost did. The more elegant and romantic approach is reaching out to the Armeni restaurant prior and the owner will arrange for a private (and free) water taxi to take you to Armeni Bay from Ammoudi bay which can be reached by foot, donkey or vehicle. The boat will take you back to Ammoudi Bay after dinner. So why Go through all this trouble to reach this restaurant? Because the owner is entertaining, the environment feels exclusive and private and the fish is fresh and well prepared. You will not be disappointed. We booked our reservation through Open Table and were able to communicate with the owner through the app. Watch the sunset from Oia then walk or ride down to Ammoudi Bay then take a private boat to Armeni Restaurant, you’ll be glad you did.

It was around 4 pm or sometime shortly after when my husband and I, all sweaty and tired, finally made down from the steep hill to Armeni restaurant. It would have been a fun walk if not hot Santorini sun which was very unforgiving. We were greeted by Armeni waiter with a question if we had a reservation. There were plenty of empty tables, but the waiter was grumpy when we said that we didn’t, and told us to leave because they can’t serve us without a reservation. I was exhausted and didn’t want take no for an answer and after some convincing, he finally grudgingly agreed. Another very nice waiter brought some fresh fish for us to choose for grilling. Even though we were given menus, we were too tired from the heat and didn’t check out how expensive those grilled fish were (they had other less pricey items on the menu). We ordered grilled sea bream and Greek salad. The fish came out good, but most certainly not worth around $100 we paid for it! You would have to pay close attention to the menu and ask questions if you don’t want to pay this crazy price for the grilled fish. The salad was pretty mediocre. We also ended up receiving a free dessert, which was ok. At the end everyone was very nice and overall it was an interesting experience. During our meal a middle aged couple came down exhausted from the hill, they didn’t have reservation either and they were turned away even though there were plenty empty tables. As we were eating the restaurant became less and less busy, it probably gets busier starting from 6 or 6:30 pm. Even so, they didn’t want anyone without a reservation. Armeni bay is small and has only this one restaurant. You can get to it by the steep hill steps or via water from the slightly bigger Amodi Bay, which is packed with a few restaurants. Armeni restaurant provides a free water shuttle from and to Amodi Bay. You have better choices to get back to Oia from Amodi Bay.

My husband and I came here on our last night in Oia We absolutely loved our meal we had a table right next to the water amazing service especially the owner he has such a great character and made everyone feel so welcome and relaxed. The food was some of the best we had during our weeks stay in Santorini. In particular the creamy seafood pasta was incredible I would definitely recommend this restaurant and the experience of being picked up on the boat made it even better such a lovely evening would love to do it all again!

The view is what makes this restaurant. Beyond that it’s average at best. The transfer from Amoudi bay is a nice touch. And the boat driver was friendly helping out my fiancé who gets a bit nervous on boats at ease. The setting is beautiful and relaxed and the staff are friendly. We ordered anchovies and scallops to start. The anchovies were delicious as was the sauce the scallops were cooked in. However some of the scallops were hot all the way through and others were cold on one side. The inconsistency was a bit off putting. For main we ordered a whole sea bass with potatoes and veg. This was delivered and deboned at the table next to us before realising(a simple mistake) and presenting us our fish. No apology was offered and no explanation despite us partially over hearing the table next door discussing how much sauce/oil/butter to put on the fish. The fish was really tasty. After main service slowed to a snails pace, our table wasn’t cleared, we weren’t offered more drinks or dessert. I’d read a review that described feeling trapped because the return transfer to amoudi couldn’t happen until after sunset (2100 ish) this wasn’t an issue for us as we’d always planned on walking back up. I called a waiter over and asked for the bill and was told I couldn’t have it yet so I explained we were going to walk up. At this point we felt judged for walking up. Amongst this we were provided a complimentary desert. The walk back up is tough but in our mind the walk back up at amoudi bay would have been just as tough (if not worse because of the donkeys and their mess). The views from the walk were nice I just wouldn’t recommend walking after dark. Overall I think the restaurant needs to be clearer on how transfers work. If you want a transfer back to amoudi maybe book a later table.

My wife and I decided to book a table after reading the fantastic reviews on here. Oh how disappointing it was; maybe our expectations were too high?! Pros: fantastic table service, staff are friendly and welcoming, the menus has a great selection of seafood and reasonably priced. Once ordered, the wait for the food wasn’t too long and it was served with a smile. Negatives: the walk to and from the restaurant was unbelievably tough and not recommended at all! The food, steamed mussels - third of the pot were unopened (dead) and could not be touched, calamari was like eating rubber and thus overcooked. The prawns (shrimps) accompanied by some sort of inedible rice was ok and the monkfish tail was ok too. Drinks - Coke Zero was in fact very cheap Greek coke cola; you know the unbranded ones you buy from a wholesaler?! Would I return or recommend this place - unfortunately NO!
