Brasserie 292 is conveniently located in downtown Poughkeepsie. The decor makes you feel like you might be in 1920s Paris: small round tables, black-and-white tiled floors, high ceilings finished with stamped tin tiles, and lots of big mirrors. The staff was great: very attentive and helpful, always coming by the table with a big smile. The bar offers some unusual... More

The first thing you notice in this place is the décor... 50's revival. It's not the most intimate of places, but the food sure makes up for it. Excellent French fare, wonderfully presented. The dishes are not bold, or even experimental, but what you get is perfect every time. The service is good, not exceptional.

Yes! Believe or not, a wonderful little gem in Main Street. The place will take you to any small bistro in Paris, the decor is quite authentic. Great staff, very attentive and pleasant. Shortly after we sat down a basket of delicious mini croissants, danish and bread was brought to the table accompanied by strawberry butter, a nice touch. The... More

The moment you step inside and observe the retro urban feel you know you are in a place where people care about good food. Drinks were well-made and wine list, while not extensive, had plenty to offer from France to Napa. A fresh pea and smoked salmon spoonful set the yummy tone and bread was fresh, soft, and abundant. Tartare... More

My wife and I had browsed this restaurant before, so we decided to give it a try before seeing a movie at the nearby Bardavon Theater (about a five minute walk). We were immediately seated, as we were the only ones in the restaurant when we arrived. Our orders were quickly taken, and Angel, our server, brought a little thing... More

I think that there were about 20 folks in our party and it was a little crowded. Service was attentive and most of the courses were appealing and tasty. It is really hard to judge what it would be like to dine here in a small group. but I imagine that it would be better. I would like to return... More

This was our 4th visit to Brasserie 292 and it does not disappoint (we travel 1 1/2 hours to dine at this establishment .... so it must be good :-). We began our meal with finely crafted cocktails and appetizers: clams & oysters on the half shell (fresh & yummy), the foie gras parfait (a large helping of this rich... More

There were 4 of us here for Hudson Valley Restaurant Week on Saturday night but the online reservation I made was for the following week so they did not have a table ready for us. Once we discovered my error the young hostess told us they could seat us in about a half hour. The small bar was also full... More

I will start by saying that even with the poor service I will still return here because of how excellent every other aspect was. My boyfriend and I are both resturant managers and we quickly know a gem when we find one! The cocktails are outstanding. It's hard to find drinks this well concocted outside of NYC. I was very... We just got back from my wife's 25th-anniversary-at-work luncheon at Brasserie 292, and we had a party of 17. They gave us a menu of three first courses, three entrees, and three desserts. For the starters, the mussels were fantastic. My wife loved the salad. The French onion soup was good. My problem with the meal came with the salmon.... More
